Man, what type of scorpions do yall have over there Kevin?? We have little ones here in Texas, I guess as their sting is essentially like 2 yellowjacket stings at once but in 30 mins all is good.

No jokes…in my Zim hunt they captured the biggest scorpion i have ever seen in a shoe box…it was the size of a large crayfish

I’ve heard lightweight synthetic clothes are a no-go bc they can burn when being ironed. Was I given a line of bull?

When Sitka, Kuiu, etc was newish 15-20 years ago yes, but camps are very use to it now. Not been a problem at all the last few trips I've gone on.

But I do carry a small powerbank now to charge phone, flashlight or whatever else is needed. Took the one below on this trip and could even run my starlink mini for 3-4 hours until it goes flat.

was there a few years back in Sept and the Tsetse were bad. Soak your clothes in pymethrin and get a face net like someone said earlier.

I was there in 2018. sound advice all of it!

I packed a frog towel along with a fan. That was VERY nice in the evening to be able to sleep! In the night the duvet came handy - it got cold!! A jacket, or at least a vest, is good in the mornings. a beanie too, if you sit on top of the car.

Next time I´ll bring my indian pit helmet rather than the Akubra cattleman... Too warm with a felt hat, a little wide too.

Good evening gang, I'll be heading over with D&Y in Mid Sept for my first dangerous game hunt. I'll be going after buffalo and maybe a few extras. We've hunted Africa before, so I know about the "pack light - then cut that in 1/2" rule. LoL....but I was hoping for more useful tips.

I've got the basics; rifle, ammo, sling, binos, gaiters, well broken in boots, etc. Any "non-standard" items that are essential?

What temps could I expect in Sept in Chewore S?

What about OTC meds?

Avon Skin So Soft Bug Repellent and SPF sunscreen. To my knowledge, it is the only repellent that works on Tsetse flies. Also, it doesn't stink terribly which is important for scent control.

September is going to be hot, but you can always dip in the Zambezi if you're allowed access through Chewore North or Sapi.

I wouldn't advise that! One of the few times I have been stalked by a croc was on that stretch of the river, and it was HUGE!

Fair point. Let me restate: you could do some fishing on the river and cool off in a boat. The river was definitely about 10 degrees F cooler than a mile inland when I hunted Sapi.

Haven't been to Chewore, but I hunted with D&Y in Omay July 2024 and learned a thing or two being my first African hunt.

Electrolyte powders - Yes, do bring they make a big difference and I prefer Pedialyte & liquid IV brand.

Clothes, I brought synthetics and cotton and both worked and neither was damaged by the laundry staff.

I also had some camo shirts, and no issues - "The camo ban in Zim is because association with rebel groups; so avoid the military BDU style and don't wear it through the airport and you'll be fine"
This is from York himself.

SAXX - Men's boxers are great and all I wear now after that hunt.

Apple Air tags as others have stated were very reassuring.

Yes. Buy a $5 head net from Walmart. The mopani bees will drive you crazy otherwise. The very best thing I brought. Did not mess up my vision at all. easy to take off and put on
