I could not find federal 215 primers so I bought 1000 cci mag 250. So far I have had 4 misfires. Any one else have trouble with cci primers? This is not the first time I have had misfire problems with CCI but I have to buy what I can get my hands on.

Yep! Have a bunch of 250's I bought years ago. Same problem. Done with them.

Midsouth has a sale on Federals. How old is the firing pin spring in your rifle?

Yes I had a 1000ct years ago of CCI 250 that one box of 100 had 4 misfires in.

I switched to Win LMR on every magnum caliber from .257wby and up; and haven’t had a misfire since, even my .470 uses Win primers.

ITs a ruger 77 rsm I just bought it was as new in the box. I don't think its the springs very good primer strikes on the miss fires.

I use pretty decent volume of #34's in my 762 NATO clone load. Br2 for 308 and 300wm. 250's for 375 h&h.

I've had a blown out primer on a loose pocket in 308 but never a dud on any CCI.

Following.
I'm interested to hear more on CCI experiences.
I've been thinking of moving to federal GM across the board but they're hard to get.

Well known that CCI's are harder than the federal and Winchesters.
Federal has been available here and there for a bit. Try ammoseek or shotbot. You will find some. When you do buy more than what you think you will need. I refuse to go through what we did using Covid and found and bought what I think will be enough for my lifetime. I don't believe in hoarding but enough out there now that you can buy all you want and not deplete the next guy.

Every Cabela's I've been into lately has large stocks of Federal primers. They do sell out quickly so get all you can when they have them, and check back often.

Prices seem to be going back down on primers and powder too, but not everywhere.

I have to admit that in over 50 years of loading my own cartridges and using CCI exclusive except for a while when everything was in short supply I have never had a miss fire on any of my reloads where it wasn't my fault.

I have read that CCI uses a heaver metal in their manufacture that others but I have no data to verify it.

I use CCI 250 and Fed 215. Never had a problem with either.

If you've had several misfires from primers out of the same 100ct box - and the spring is good - then I'd rather suspect a bad batch, or that they've been contaminated some way or another between production and trigger pull.

About 40 years ago I was going to shoot a nice 4 pt mule deer and instead of a boom from the 270 all that was heard was click. the deer was about 50 yards away and took off so fast there was no second shot. I lived near Lewiston Idaho so I took the cartridge into Speer and showed it to Dave Andrews. He told me a story about how Jack O'Connor had come in with the same complaint and it turned out that Jack had loaded the cartridge with no powder. I left the cartridge for the lab to check. It turned out that I had a proper powder charge and the reason for the misfire was the three leg anvil in the primer had a crack at the juncture- so that when pressed by the firing pin the anvil folded over, an A and an I. Dave gave me a box of 1000 primers but it didn't make up for the buck. If I have a choice, I get Federal or Winchester primers- sometimes Remington.
