Buffalo hunting with a .458 Win Mag

True but a little weight in the buttstock and forend would help.

Looking forward to hearing how your Bradshaw shoots!

@hoytcanon When I do the bolt thrust calculations the 45/100 even loaded to 458WM pressures come to less than the 500S&W that are built on the same actions. so I am not concerned about the hinge pin.

Except, my friend, I have done a couple dozen H&R SB2 frames in high pressure, high thrust cartridges, via rebores and stubs and I have bent MANY, MANY hinge pins... so as I said, good luck with that

@hoytcanon Thank you for the information. I haven't bent one yet but my number of SB2 frames is only a couple.. I will watch for that problem to raise its ugly head.

When you replaced the pin did you use one from H&R or make one?

I had a machinist friend make me a batch of pins... and I used them. I went through an H&R phase... they are fun and inexpensive to work on... I did many switch barrel sets, ie.
.44 RM/.30/30/20 gauge
.444/.35 Whelen/12 gauge
7.62X57/.303 British/.410
And a whole host of others... most of them in custom stock sets.

I have a lot also & went through even more back in the day, made one in .500NE 3 1/4in, at slightly less weight than in 45/70, full nitro loads were like being in a Train Crash every shot !

Do you have any spare stock sets you can send to NZ, my only nice one was the Cinnamon laminate but it went with the .500NE ?

Nice looking stuff there!

If I bend one looks like I will need to fire up the lathe.

I probably have some walnut blanks left in the shop... you will need to sand and finish with TruOil (or similar), but they will be bolt-on ready.

Sir, I think I have been writing to you about the purchase of the HK 639 rifle under an email "Tt Jake." If this is you, then I am truly interested. I am just trying to verify identify. Tt Jake is asking for a cash transaction. No disrespect intended, Just trying to verify who I am talking to. Thank you. Respectfully. Dan

Hey my friend, I am returning to SA for a Cape Buffalo hunt in June 26. My outfitter has suggested Highveld but I have read some poor reports. Wondering how satisfied you were with your mounts from them? Thanks in advance.
Finally back to somewhat normal I missed reading the messages and posts
