First try this morning with my BRNO ZKK602 375 H&H. It's a really beautiful rifle you can see on another post.

I've read that most CZ/BRNO rifles shoot at their best with amunitions on the low velocity spectrum. Mine seems not to be an exception since best group of the morning was with 72,5 grains of IMR4451 under a 300 grains Sierra BTSP (1,5").

73,5 grains and 74,5 grains just get larger. I'll try 72 and 72,5 again next time.

What are your load to go with your BRNO's?

In my BRNO ZKK-602 (375 H&H), I'm having very good results with 65.0 grains of H4895 and 300 TSX. This not a max load and I liked the groups so I stopped there.

They used to be incredibly accurate with the old 300Gr Remington round nosed steel jacketed solid factory loads (which may have been loaded with Hornady bullets, according to a vast number of sources).

As well as the 300Gr RWS TUG soft point factory load.

ANYONE HAS LOADED BARNES 300 GR TSX FLAT BASE FOR THE 375 BRNO 602 USING S335 SOMCHEM POWDER ?

Thank you for your reply and information !

I’m using that exact gun and bullet right now on a buff/croc hunt near Kruger but with H4895.

I’m also going to try for honey Badger with it and hope the Badger doesn’t eat my TSX! Tough buggers.

Using 300 TSX in 375 H&H BRNO ZKK-602, this is the recovered bullet from a buff last week. Frontal shot at 50-60 meters wrecked the heart and was recovered 3-4 feet back into the stomach.. Velocity 2400+ fps.

I did some tests with the BRNO. So far:

72,5 grains of IMR 4451 with a 300 grains Sierra BTSP shoots in 1,6"

72,5 grains of IMR 4451 with a 300 grains Hornady Round Nose gave me a .9" group

72,5 grains of IMR 4350 with a 300 grains Hornady BTSP gave me a 1,3" group

Rifle is finicky. She likes it or she hates it, especially with the I4451. Looks like a bit less with the I4350.

I've also tried some Hornady 270 grains SP and Varget. 69 grains and 70,5 grains shoots like patterns mor than group. I'll try 72 and 73...

What's wrong with around 1" or less?

Did you load your TSX with H4895? I loaded 270 grains TSX with that powder last year for my hunt. 69,5 grains was shooting sub MOA from my ex-Win Model 70 Safari Express .375 H&H.

Yes, H4895 with the 300 TSX. Also took croc, sable and honey badger with same load as buff.

I tried a 3 shots groups with the Barnes 270 grains TSX. These bullets never disapoint! 74 grains of IMR 4451 and a Rem 91/2 primer gave a 1,2" group. No doubt it can do better with a bit of development. The TSX is a great bullet that makes any PH smile.

The good old discontinued Hornady 300 grains round nose still delivers around 1" groups.

Of all the bullets I've tried, the Hornady 270 grains SP is by far the worst. I tried them with 3 different powders and they just shoot all over the paper.

I'm going on a moose hunt next month. I'll take the BRNO with me loaded with 300 grains round nose. A bit overkill when a 30-06 or a 270 can do the job but... it's a dream rifle...

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.
