BRNO 602

I use the Barnes 270 grain LRX for everything in one of mine and it works great. I have another that is sighted in with 300 grain Swift A-Frame bullets. I can tell no difference in the field on game. Some people get hung up on 30 more grains of bullet weight. The animals don't know the difference. If your rifle likes the 270 grain bullets, go ahead and use them for everything. It is plenty of weight.
What's the largest game you've taken with the 270 LRX? It's what I use in my 375 Ruger and it shoots amazing. I plan to try for a Cape Buffalo cow this year so will see how it works out. I'll load 2 LRX 270 and 2 300 DGS rounds thereafter. I've noticed for whatever reason the 300 DGS impact very close to where the 270 LRX do which is good luck.

My friend took buffalo with 270 grain LRX, 375 HH, Ruger 1. We were together. He took it with frontal heart shot.

That’s great that your solids shoot the same as the LRX!

My clients have killed big brown bear with my semi-custom AHR CZ550 375 H&H camp rifle shooting 270 grain LRX and I wouldn’t hesitate to use it on buffalo. This young lady anchored this 9’8” bear on the first shot but then paid the insurance when we approached just to make sure.

A few days later, I had another client shoot a bear with his own 375 H&H with a 300 grain Hornady bullet. The bear went down and rolled out of sight into Devils Club brush and alders. I had to put that bear down 40 minutes later at 20 yards with my 458 Lott when it got up and charged as we carefully approached without being able to see where it laid. Would it have done the same if shot with the 270 grain LRX? We will never know but I’ve never had a bear charge me yet when shot with the LRX. Obviously the bullet is only one factor in a complex scenario that is different every time but I’ve been happy with the LRX.

The hornady bullets seems to have “mixed” results. That said it’s impossible to say what’s the bullets and what’s shot placement. I’ve always been a proponent of shoot the biggest caliber and bullet you are confident shooting well. If that’s a 30-06 for some ok. If it’s a 458 Lott ok. But bullet placement trumps all and never hunt DG alone and I think you’ll be successful. That said a 375 Barnes or similar bullet seems to be the most effective on larger game from what I’ve scoured through the internet. I can only say it def is effective on medium game as I’ve never shot anything massive…yet

Here's the target for the NorthForks - 25yds off a bag, iron sights. Hunting leopards over dogs the range won't be more than that.

Flew in an airshow in Smyrna years ago, beautiful country.

Best regards,

Franco
