Greeting from the bayou state.

As an overthinker, I am very curious if someone can enlighten me on the following.

Tags for a Bongo, Elephant or Rhino (I chose these because of how expensive the tags are), my question is does 100%of the tag money go to the government issuing the tag?

Is there anything outlining how that money is used? Does it go to lining pockets and expensive vehicles or does it go back to actually protecting the species from poaching and improving habitat? Does any go towards the locals to give them an incentive not to poach?

It seems like forever I have read about hunting dollars help with conservation, but in a continent like Africa where does the money actually go?

I am specifically inquiring about the tag money. I realize a lot of PH's put some of their earnings into wildlife management, but is is solely about the funds the government receives.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

There really aren’t tags in Africa. Most all rhinos are hunted on private land and are property of the landowner. Elephant and Bongo are generally hunted in concession areas that are assigned a quota of those animals. Outfitters either own the area through a bidding process or buy quota from the concession holder. What goes back into conservation is really dependent on the area you hunt and outfitters you choose to hunt with. Some are actively trying to better their areas others aren’t.

Africa is a continent- so every country is different. (Over 12 or more huntable countries)
Your question is vague. I know you weren’t trying to be

So hard to answer that simply.

But supporting good outfits helps them keep their government concessions paid for and keeps bad actors from being in control of millions of acres sometimes. Or worse leased out to mining, logging, or slowly being developed.

Remember - the number one cause of loss of wildlife is habitat loss. So by paying for a hunt you help pay for that wildlife concession and keep it wild.

Or else it might be a parking lot a lot sooner than we think…

Sir, I think I have been writing to you about the purchase of the HK 639 rifle under an email "Tt Jake." If this is you, then I am truly interested. I am just trying to verify identify. Tt Jake is asking for a cash transaction. No disrespect intended, Just trying to verify who I am talking to. Thank you. Respectfully. Dan

Hey my friend, I am returning to SA for a Cape Buffalo hunt in June 26. My outfitter has suggested Highveld but I have read some poor reports. Wondering how satisfied you were with your mounts from them? Thanks in advance.
