Loading for my 450/400 I’m having trouble finding boxes to hold the rounds when I go to the range. I usually use the various sized MTM boxes for other calibers. But it doesn’t look like the make one that fits the 450/400 other than bullet down. I’ll do that if I have to but prefer a bullet up configuration.

I like the MTM because the plastic they use readily accepts labels I can write the load data on and they peel off without too much residue.

What is everyone using to organize and transport you bigger bore shells?

I use Plano part PL123020 and MTM Case Guard J-20 for the 450/400 3”

Secured by a piece of shock cord or rubber ‘bracelet’

50 count magnum MTM cases in transulcent blue or the green color with the bullets down seemed to be the only option I found for 470NE and 450#2.

I have used plastic boxes from three manufacturers for my .450/400 NE ammunition. All three are bullet-down only.
MTM H50-XL-24 (holds 50 rds)
Berry's Model 412 (holds 50 rds)
Scheel's Magnum/Ultra Magnum #212 (holds 20 rds)
If I might make a suggestion however... When I first started reloading for this cartridge, my loading block would not fit the Jeffery's larger rim. I solved this by making my own loading blocks. Perhaps you could do something similar by cutting a piece of scrap lumber as an insert to fit the MTM box and then boring the appropriate-sized holes. I used a 5/8" Forstner bit when making mine.

Incidentally (and you may already know this) the only difference between the different models of H50- series boxes is the removable insert.

Thank you. I already made my own loading block.

I didn’t realize the H50 boxes have a removable insert. The onesie for my .375 and smaller rounds the interior is not removable. I’ll pick a couple up and play around with making something.

Berry’s makes a flip up lid box that has cartridge slots a little larger than the MTM box and it will hold 500 Jeffery diameter cartridges unlike the MTM(I am away and can’t post a photo/model number of it). Berry’s also has a 10 round box that is designated for 50 BMG and 505 Gibbs. BERRY’s has a booth at SCI.

Be careful of hunting Chewore South, the area has been decimated.....

Curious about this. I hunted Chewore South with D&Y in September and they did tell me it was there last hunt there.

Which outfits shot it out?
