Caliber is 11,15x60R aka. .43 Mauser.

All mechanical parts, ,trigger, lock, ejector, sight... work fine.

Bore is mirror-like!!!

Does anyone has further information about these guns?

Really like the Martiniesqe tilting block action on this lovely old rifle.

HWL, it is a beautiful old rifle...it seems we are on a lucky streak to collect old rifles...I will upload a close -up video of my old rifle as well...(y)(y)

Hi Gert... I bought this rifle, because you infect me.... in 2019, this rifle will be 150 years old, and the barrel is like new.

Next week, I will have it in my hands and load developement will start soon...

This special rifle was in action in the war of 1870/71 and the M1869 quickly earned a reputation of beeing very effective.

While the french an prussian troops dealed with needle guns, bavarian units where equiped with the spear head of weapon technology of this time.

I hope, it also will not fail in South Africa...

Great, HWL. I really am extremely glad I am the guilty one who got you to collect these beautiful black powder rifles...yes, you need to bring this beauty along..as shown in the following picture, 62" Kudu bulls are on the menu only for the great price of R4000 , South Africa rand/312.937USD...
Here is the 62" Kudu for 312.937 USD, this kudu was hunted last week on the Weltevreden Farm..so here is proof that there are kudu bulls well above 60" ..

Last friday, first range time with the Werder.

I fired the last 20 rounds I had, a Trial Boss load with a 300 gr jacketed Sierra bullet. swaged down from .451 to .446.

Had a 10 shot group of 16 cm diameter with the iron sights.

Now, the black powder/cast lead bullet load is developement...

It seems there are a lot of options to convert different caliber brass casings to fit into the M71. I am sure I will be able to convert even a .375 H&H Magnum brass to a Mauser 43 brass ...I still believe the .375 H&H Magnum brass is the most versatile brass to fire form to other caliber brass. The first fire forming I have done was to fire form a .375 H&H Magnum to fit in my 404 Jeffery rifle ...I am still using these converted brass today.(y)(y)(y)

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
