With everything going on in Africa I was thinking about something different but still fun and affordable.

I work with a great outfitter in Argentina that does free range Water Buffalo hunts. Its a great way to break out the big guns have some fun without breaking your bank account on the hunt or the flight. Lost of additional animals available as well.

Ranch is located in Santa Rosa Argentina, 5 day hunt 2 water buffalo included $6,500.
Hunt includes airport pickup, lodge, meals, guide, trophy prep and trophy fees.
Not included hunting license, airport transfer, hotels if needed, gun import.

Sounds like fun

It does sound fun!

Its hard to beat for the money. flights are short and relatively inexpensive and south American hospitality is amazing.

What's a rough price for the flight? Similar to flying to SA?

Flights are running 800-1000, I'm sure with a bit of shopping you could get it sown cheaper. My last flight to Cordoba was less than $500, but it was a couple years ago.
The outfitter picks up from Santa Rosa Argentina.

That's fantastic! Half what I paid for Atlanta to Joberg. This is getting a little more enticing

There is also a bunch of other species down there as well, monster black buck, stag, puma and a host of others as well. You can always take a day for wing shooting as well.

If you take a water buffalo, does that gain you membership into the Loyal Order of Water Buffalo? :E Celebrate:

Well, if THAT'S the case....:A Bravo: count me in!

James,
I'm doing some learning on this. Giving it much consideration...thanks, buddy!

Anyway, on one page I see that "Wild water buffalo are endangered, according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature." http://www.livescience.com/27409-buffalo.html

Would this trip require CITES permits to bring back the trophies?
What are the fees associated with taking a non-hunter? Chatting with my 12-year old daughter, I think I might have her willing to take this journey, where she wouldn't go to SA with me last time.
Can you provide some details about the concession?

I really need to slow down my browsing on this site!:A Hi Five:

So the decision between this and Sweden remains.....the observer is included in that deal as well. Why can you make it easy on a guy:A Bonk:?Touring included in Sweden make that slightly more enticing, but two heads ARE better than one:A Thumbs Up:

James ..... can I bow hunt ?
Glen

Hi James. I have read about some difficulties in taking your own rifle. Have your hunters had problems lately? I know they have a new president that is pro hunting, but not sure if new procedures are in place.
The other item that has made me pause is the cost and difficulty of getting trophies back to the USA. What has been your experience? I had taken Argentina off my list due to the issues above. If things are changing for the better then I'll need to rethink this........ Thanks. Bruce

@ArmyGrunt I want you to get to the point where you are so weak you do both.

@G Skinner I don't know, I've never seen you shoot. (LOL, sorry bad joke) Yes you can take your bow.

@gillettehunter they changed the system again making it much easier. We use a gun service in BA who handles all the paperwork for the import export on the firearms, cost is $170. I've never had anyone experience export issues, unless they are trying to get a puma out.

Any other animals available to hunt? Prices?

Is this rifle sold? If not what is the weight of it and do you know if there is enough difference in diameter between the 35W and the 9.3 to allow for a rebore to a 9.3x62 which is what I am after?
Thanks,
Gary (Just down the road in Springfield)

Forgive me if this is the incorrect area, I signed up to this forum just now because I wanted to be on the list to purchase a copy of your autobiography. Please feel free to pass my information along to whomever is selling. Thank you so much. I look forward to it!
I like the Tillie in my picture. They are supposed to fit loose (2 fingers inside hat band), have mesh for cooling, and hold their shape after washing.
