Most knives sold in the bazaars on the different FOBs in Afghanistan were made in Pakistan and brought over to sell in the bazaars..
Same with many of the firearms that got sold on the local economy over there… the Pakistanis could literally turn out an AK or a hi-power in a day in a garage with an amazingly limited arrangement of tools…
There are very, very few metal workers in Afghanistan… most machining and hand worked metal gets done in Pakistan… most textiles get brought in from China…
Surprisingly though they can make shoes and sandals… there were numerous shoe factories running in just about every city.. other than really cheap rubber flip flops that they’d bring in from China, I’m pretty sure most Afghans wear shoes made in Afghanistan…
My son and I walked into a gun shop as he is looking for a new rifle for an upcoming elk hunt. We found 2 of these while perusing rifles. They were made in Pakistan.
