I, my friend and his son, all three hunters, are contemplating a trip to Nyakasanga, Zimbabwe along with 1, 2 or more observers.

Hunting would be 1:1 so would need three PHs.

Hunter 1 will go for a buffalo (plus perhaps eland/water buck/hippo/croc depending on availability/time), hunter 2 and 3 plains game.

Bringing our own rifles.

Possibly July/August (when I understand less water sources/thinner bush).

I guess it should be at least 7 days of hunting.

Anything wrong with this plan (except the prohibitive cost it will incur....), what could be better, what did I forget, etc.?

Nothing.
If you are looking at 2024.
It'll be hard to find an opening in Zim with a good operator during that time frame specially for 3 PH's.
Wait for cancellations..

Charlton McCallum safaris holds the quota for Nyakasanga. I’d consider them the best outfitter I’ve hunted with. If they tell you it’s a good plan I’d trust their opinion. However if it was me, I’d look later at mid-August or September for better visibility. I’d also ask about the PG quota. It’s my understanding buffalo quota outnumbers individual PG quota. Maybe look at Sengwa Research area for more PG quota instead of Nyakasanga.

You should check with Leon DuPlessis at Save safaris. He has a booth at SCI right now. Last week he told me he still has 5 buffalo tags available in the Save conservancy this year. The conservancy is planning to move 400 buffalo out this year they have so many. Good luck with whoever you book with.

Thanks to all for the advice so far. Just to clarify: it won't be 2024, perhaps 2025.

Me and friend are hunting Nyakasanga this August. I'll report back.

CMS also has Dande which is fantastic. I was there in '21. Plenty of buff and plains game. My report from that trip is here.

I'd recommend one of the Zambezi concessions because it's really fun to fish and/or just drink beers riding the river looking at game.

I'd also suggest booking 18+ months in advance to get the dates you want.

agreed that hunting September on would help with visibility. I hunted the beginning of September last year and it was good but still leaves and grass in the way

I would book 10 days not 7 going to Zim for Buff. Not the easiest trip to get there. My trip this year took 3 flights each way for a total of 6

Sounds good, but may want more days.

Cost is not an issue, your kids won't need the money.

I can't respond on the area, but the number of days for the time invested in travel seem short. If you can take the time, do at least 10 days, you won't regret it. Other than maybe wishing you had a few more days in-country! ;-)

Where are the buffalo headed?

Good Day Sir

We have Buffalo on quota available in our area's in Zimbabwe and Mozambique with good quality plains game.We have dates open around the times you mentioned above.

Unfortunately no Hippo/Croc but excellent free range hunting.

Had an excellent classifieds transaction with JoninCO. A truly honest and standup member. I wouldn't hesitate at all to deal with him again. Thanks, J!

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
