Anyone hunt with one? Or know anyone who does/did? Interesting that the .577 Nitro is seems to be fairly (as far as big guns go) popular, but the big .585 bolt guns seem to not get taken over after elephant above the .505 and .500 Jeff.

I know people mention big ballistics and recoil to match, but why not just load to match .577 Nitro and make it somewhat more manageable while still getting those desired ballistics?

Cheers.

Ross Syfried told me that loaded to 2150 it would break both shoulders on the biggest bull elephant. Working on getting mine up and running.

I have never shot one, but I’ve been close to buying several. I ended up buying a .550 Magnum (the one “based” off of .460 Wby.),
but have only shot pigs and paper with it. From reports from others on the .585, I am sticking with the .550.

I've only fired one - once - and it was ... interesting. Not earth-shattering, but you knew for sure that it wasn't a blank. It would certainly require some practice to be quick on follow-up shots. Don't know for sure to what velocity it was loaded, or with which projectile (it looked like a Woodleigh SN RN).

One of the guys on AHN had one about 10 years ago, not sure who it was now, I bought some brass of him ( he would only sell the box full) via another member, to sell to collectors
I know the owner shot some buffalo and scrub bulls with it, don’t know if it went to Africa

577 T-Rex, 585 Nyati, 600 Overkill.

A league of their own.

A guy near toowoomba has one, and a .600 overkill.

I have always wanted one. Martini in British Colombia had one listed years ago. Not sure if it sold, or if it disappeared due to Canada’s BS energy limits prohibiting large bore/ large high velocity rifles. At the time I found it, I could not really afford to buy it, let alone buy an expensive rifle and then wait year or two for brass to be made for it at an outrageous cost. Still want one though. I gave up the dream of a 585 and was about to start a 510 Wells, but Canadas gun laws destroyed that dream too.

I owned one and sold it....I have another version now a .585 Hubel Express on a Montana PH action.

It is currently back at the smiths getting a blemish fixed caused by the soldering of the 1/4 rib.

The .585 Nyati and .585 HE are pretty close, these rifles are the most devastating killers of game.

Given what happening in Oz with our treasonous Government, I may have to sell it.

I will, if I have too offer it up for sale here someone may be able to import it legally etc.

Nice Report! Im about to pull the trigger on booking the LDE with Patrick. I have been talking about it with him for about 3 yrs now. Romain hit me up the other day with an offer I can't refuse for 2027.

Andrew, I commented that your on 375 H&H for sale was the fair price.

Like I commented, my classic stainless has the original 24” barrel.

Did you buy yours with the barrel already cut down to 21” or did you do it (or a gunsmith)?

You might have edited your post on the PH in the Bubye. I know the PH and is a wonderful person and a fmaily man and runs a succesful business in Zim and just doesn't want the attention that the internet offers, the ugly kind.
