Thinking ream a Rhineland arms 45acp barrel to 45 Colt for a No1 Mk3 & use a Desert Eagle magazine. Any thoughts? Gunsmith in US for barrel work?

Sounds like great fun if the barrel is thick/heavy enough.

What are your plans for if ?

Was gifted a no1 mk3 DP, thinking back woods truck gun. Wanted something stronger than 45acp. Although Buffalo bore makes a 255 grain hard cast +p 45acp 950fps from 5in 1911. Or 45 Win-Mag loaded to 45 Colt pressure, might be easier - dimensions are the same as 45acp (longer w/thicker rim)

Shit that’s strong load, is that from standard 1911 with standard springs & such ?

Might have better trouble free loading with Rimmless but then again a rim works well in the Lee & the Desert Eagle mag should work also !

Perhaps follow what others have done on these conversions, actually a .303 Brit makes a fine truck gun !

@Robert Wrath
If you were in Australia there's only one person I would recommend.
Rob spittles.
He has done this type of conversion a few times and has even built a couple of DeSalles copies complete with fake suppressor .
They will cost you $$$$ tho.

Ron spomer did a bear defense video, 10mm & 45acp. They used gelatin and cow scapulas, good video!

Will DE mags fit the 45 colt?
The colt case would be bigger than the 44mag case
The 50ae would be bigger than the 45 case.
So would you not have to work on the feed lips for the magazine?
And having to modify feed lips are never that great for reliability.

If you could get it to fit and it would take the pressure. Maybe a 45 Winchester magnum.
They have dedicated mags to feed them all ready and it can be more powerful than the 44 mag but probably not as hot as hot loading the 45 colt with heavy bullets

There was a gunsmith that was making 30 carbine in 45 win mag years ago

I think lemag made the carbine to 45 win mag conversion.
Think he made a few 338 and 458 wm m1 grand conversion to

Now we're talkin'...I always wanted to do a 45LC in an Enfield.....Yes, the M1 Carbine mags work well as a single stack. These pics might help...

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
