It took a few decades..... but a few weeks ago I bit the bullet and bought a 416 Rigby. A Rigby Single Square Bridge PH. This rifle is not my first Rigby Big Game and I was hoping that she would be as good as my 375 H&H in a Double Square Bridge Big Game. Well, she's almost as pretty and shoots just as well. I'm happy.

That's a hellava group 50 meters offhand

Congratulations from a 416 Rigby Big Game brother! You will love it.

R eight, it looks to me like your "new" rifle was well worth the wait. Off hand at 50 yds........ that dog will hunt!!

Congrats on an awesome new addition!

That's great shooting for off-hand with such a rifle!

Thanks for the comments fellas. (y) I'm very pleased with the rifle. I found her quiet manageable to shoot. I fired off 30 Hornady factory DGS rounds and 20 homeloads of 400 grain Woodleighs. Both loads shot nice groups, with marginally different in POI.

I fired a few rounds at the steel plate at 200 meters, using the 250 yard leaf. Managed to hit it with no issues (using the bags as a rest). I would say that with the Hornady DGS ammo (which Rigby sighted her with at the factory) she's more than adequate to hit a pig in the chest at 200 yards. Which is probably 100 yards further than I ever intend to use her in the bush.

During the session I also noticed that the majority of the shots onto paper had a biasis for being slightly left. Next range session I'll check again and adjust if necessary.

I really do like these Rigby's. Triggers are superb and I can't find anything to complain about.

Shes a ripper! And you are shooting it well.

Looks like both our rifles have no problems reproducing similar or smaller groups than those on the Rigby test targets provided. Which is great (y)

Hope you get out hunting with yours soon. I'm unlikely to get out bush for quiet a few months.

Well done. I reckon there’s a chance that you may be the first to account for a brumby in FNQ with a Rigby in 450 Rigby

in another life I lived at Coen. Enjoy the wet.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.

Hi EGS

I read your thread with interest. Would you mind sending me that PDF? May I put it on my website?
