Hello my buddy is selling his 375 ruger to me , and I can’t seem to find any factory loads
so he is throwing in a reload die and some brass and 235gr Speer hot cores
any help is appreciated,
300gr barnes ttsx will probably be my buffalo pills or if someone has a better one and done for both PG & buff
TIA

good friend of mine is stuffing 300 gr TSX on top of RL17, I believe. he's in Algeria until Saturday, I can ask when he gets back. Seems like he's getting somewhere around 2700+ fps with those.

Lots of factory ammo available on GB and searching on Ammoseek.com.

I load 300 gr Swift A Frames using H-4350 and Federal 215 primers. I get 2550 fps with a 23 inch barrel.

For my 375 Ruger, I’m using reloader 15 and varget for 235tsx, 275 CEB raptors, 300 CEB solids, 270 and 300gr shock hammers. All are shooting good groups from 2600fps up to 2900fps.

Hornaday seems to own the market on factory?
my other safari buddy says he wouldn’t buy Hornday or shoot it at buffalo or hippo from his experience with it in Zambia

seller just sent this

I have 2 boxes of Hornady 250 grain GMX and a partial box of reloads with 235 grain Speer Hotcore. I have a few more of those bullets for reloading and I have a box of 270 grain Spbt Speer bullets for reloading. I have a set of Lee dies that will also go with the rifle.
Rifle has a 22” Marinecote barrel and synthetic stock.
I have this set up with a rear peep”

Reloder 17 is THE powder for 375 Ruger in my opinion. I load 72.0 grains behind a 300 Grain woodleigh weldcore. I have never chrono'd this load but I'd put is somewhere north of 2,400 fps with my 20" guide gun barrel. The issue you have is that Alliant powders have become RIDICULOUSLY expensive. last I checked my local gunshop had a pound of RL7 for 69.99. So I will likely be switching over to Hodgdon powders when I run out of RL17. Looks like H4350 and StaBall powder will work in a .375R as well. Its a good cartridge.

Looks to be a Mossberg Patriot? The gun might be pretty light for the .375 Ruger. My guide gun needed some weight added to the stock to make it shootable. Or load it with those 235 speers at around 2,600 and it will kick like a .30-06.

For a do-it-all round, a 270 grain Barnes TSX would likely do the trick. Fast and Flat but penetrates like a 325 grain bonded bullet.

My buddy uses RL17, 81.5 gr, with 300 gr TSX for MV of 2730, SD very small and ES about +/-20

He does have a mercury recoil reducer in the butt stock, tho.

In checking my load book (I was going by memory) my load is 75.0 grains. Not 72.0. It actually doesn't come back at you that hard... at least not compared to my .458.

Perhaps my powder choice is antiquated. But H380 works very well for me with 270 grain TSX & LRX. Barnes book load, though loaded a bit longer than their stated COAL. This load and others are listed on their online load data also.

Thanks for sharing
it looks like 81gr of 4350 will run anything from 235 - 300 lead based bullets @ tolerances
next is figuring out a couple of loads for barns tsx 235 & 300

Just fyi, midwayusa has Barnes tsx 235 gr on sale right now. I push them through a 375 wby and they are wonderful bullets. If nothing else they would Be good practice fodder at the range

Thanks for the heads up

I Have the exact same rifle it was a gift from my wife and I love it one day I’ll hunt with mine in South Africa.

I’ll have to look I may have a box or 2 of factory hornady ammo laying around.

I’ll check my reloading diary, my loaner 375R accounted for 14 buffalo and 4 elephant before I sold it.

I'd like a bag of 100. I could actually pick it up since I'm in North Irving, but if you prefer, shipping it is fine.
