Isn't requiring a photo ID racist? Isn't that what Coke said about Georgia's voting law?

I guarantee that multiple lawsuits challenging them will be filed within hours of his doing so. If one US District Court judge can put an injunction on Trump's immigration orders, then there is nothing to stop a gun friendly US District Court judge doing the same to Biden.

Not only is he going to issue a number of Executive Orders or Actions but he is expected to name David Chipman as his nominee to head BATFE. Chipman is the ex-ATF guy that the gun control lobby trots out like a trained seal every time there is either a hearing or the media needs a comment on "assault weapons" or standard capacity magazines. He works for Giffords now and used to work for Bloomberg's Everytown immediately after he retired from ATF.

This.
I don't come to the politics forum much - I just don't have the stomach for all the bickering and name calling that most of our politics in the US has devolved into.

HOWEVER....

Let Biden issue his Executive Order. It will be challenged, I'm sure by multiple organizations and groups, and it will fail in the courts.
Ultimately (thank God), we do have a pro-gun supreme court in the US.
No way they're going to let an order like that be treated as law when it was a blatant end route around Congress for the sole reason that it would never have passed Congress in the first place.

This is exactly why we have a three-branch government in the US.

Biden is trying to play the game by creating his own rules, and it won't work.

This is why he signed an executive order to create a committee to explore expanding the Supreme Court.

Yeah, that's a different discussion. Exploratory committees don't concern me. Furthermore, his exploratory committee isn't actually going to accomplish much.
From today's New York Times article about the move to appoint the committee (not saying NYT is good or bad or otherwise, just the particular media source I pulled these quotes from):

1. "It is not clear that the commission established by Mr. Biden will by itself clarify his position. Under the White House order establishing it, the commission is not set to issue specific recommendations at the end of its study — an outcome that is likely to disappoint activists."

2. "An attempt by Mr. Biden to increase the number of justices would require approval of Congress and would be met by fierce opposition."

Once again, we see that any attempt to do this would require approval of Congress, something he will not get with a 50/50 Senate and a couple of moderate-leaning Democrats among their 50 (Joe Manchin, for example).

I also think the fact that the committee isn't "set to issue specific recommendations at the end of its study" is an indicator that he is just making empty gestures to the more radical left members of his party. Remember, he's a professional politician above all else.

But I could always be wrong. :E Shrug:

Sounds like he's grasping at straws to seem like he's attempting to accomplish something. Kind of like jousting at windmills.

Agreed, and good way to put it.

I wouldnt be so sure..

We also thought the USSC was going to kill Obama Care.. while there was a republican controlled senate and a republican in the White House..

Didnt happen..

I've learned to not count on the USSC or the three-branch government to support the will of the people or do the right thing..
