Lets See Your Favorite Trophy Picture

DIY Alaskan spring brown bear hunt. One of the most physically demanding hunts of my life. Might run inline with my sheep hunts which is hard to believe but going solo on that hunt had me about maxed out.
WOW!!!!! I never knew about any of this my friend!!! Absolutely amazing!!!

I know it’s my profile picture, but it’s my absolute favorite trophy picture.

This will always be a special photo for me. It was my son’s 2nd buffalo, taken on his first Buffalo hunt. He spent 5 days trying to kill this specific bull. Passed up a wonderful 42” bull because he wanted this bull, then another day he and his PH were 100 yards from this bull while he was bedded, but he was close to the boundary of Serengeti NP, so my son held off because he didn’t want to lose it if it ran into the park. Imagine being ann inexperienced buffalo hunter and holding off on this bull because you’d rather not shoot him than maybe lose him if he goes to the park. That was a proud dad moment.

Finally, about 10-15 minutes after sunset on his tenth and final day they were headed back to camp with no buffalo. They bumped into him a couple miles from camp, made a quick stalk and my son shot well in the rapidly fading light. The way the hunt came together at the very end made it special and everyone wanted in the picture.

This was an amazing hunt and I think a pretty striking pair of pictures.
There’s something very special about hunting chamois (y)

I'm not a huge fan of posed trophy photos. Prefer the "as it lays" mode. This is one of my favorites because of the backdrop. Typically it's very hard to get much scenery in the background. Either the terrain is flat or it requires crouching which limits the view of the animal. This was actually staged ... just a bit. I hit the ram a little further back than I should have and he took off running. Made it about 150 yards before expiring ... right in the middle of a road. I pulled him off the side maybe fifteen yards for this photo with excellent composition. Note how the Impala's body follows the downward slope of the hill he's laying on while the rifle is lying perpendicular and in line with the valley below.

This is probably my favorite posed photo. It's the "self-defense" gemsbuck I shot on the second day of my first safari. Two shots into the heart incoming full tilt at very close range. Again, the composition is very good. Note how the photo seems to flow from lower left to upper right corner. The bright blue sky also contrasts nicely with my dark green and camo attire.

Thank you for the LIKE on my old post. It brought back memories as I lost her a year and a half ago, at 18+ years.
