Your 3 favorite hunting cartridges of all time

Everyone is thinking big game & I enjoy deer/elk hunting a lot, but I fire a couple of hundred more shots from my varmint rifles than I do big game rifles.
I NEED a .222 Remington!;)
What do you think of the 223?
If you can find one the stevens model 200
Are cheap or where I think I payed 127 or 137$ for it new. I bought it as a cheap farm rifle that could get beat up and not worry about it.
It turns out to be one of the best shooting rifles I have owned 50,55,62 and 64 gr bullets would all print a tuching 3 shot group factory sp ammo. And that with the suckey plastic trigger.
I was thinking of replacing the trigger but a family member wanted it for his son. So we did a deal.
All these years later they don’t want to sell it back

@Flbt
My mate Greg got one of those and it stacks bullets on top of each other. For a cheap gun they are super accurate. Mine was a 270 very accurate then became my super accurate Whelen.

Assuming the need for wide availability, this trio could do it all:

.22LR (or .22 Mag)
.30-06
.416 Rigby (or .416 Rem Mag, or .416 Ruger) -- 400gr/2400fps

____
BONUS OPINION: If no DG, and one handloaded hunting rifle, probably a .35 Whelen A.I.
Load handgun bullets for plinking/varmits, and up to 250gr for any PG.

I get a kick out of reading these older forms and seeing what commons trends have come and gone through the years and what still holds steady.

Having only hunted the western US, at time of posting, my view is a touch narrow but I've taken my fair share of game over the last 20 years with a healthy smattering of cartridges. I tend to lean more towards favorite calibers rather than favorite cartridges.

As it stands now my top 3
- 22 WMR, the longest standing favorite
- 7mm PRC, interchangeable with most 7mms
- 9.3x62, my newest fascination

Or big 310s to over 2,400fps for pure bone crushing power and that's just out of a standard Whelen.

Do you mind me asking what auction you are referencing? I'm not in the market for any of those rifles...just curious.

Good morning from Montana.

I'm looking at a post from 2018 where you were looking for a lefty Winchester in .375 H&H Magnum. I'm selling mine. My email is [redacted] in the event that you're still searching for a unicorn.

Best,

Kelly Palmer
