Yes, Savage Arms has a Special Order Shop, and they can build nearly anything you like, in including some discontinued models.
I have wanted a model 114 in 30-06 for a while, and Tina has ordered several rifles from the Special Order Shop, so rather than look for a used gun, why not order a new one and get exactly what I wanted?
First, it had to have a wood stock with checkering and a low gloss oil finish. A raised comb and cross bolts were also requested. LOP is 14.25.
Savage offers quite a few options for metal finishes, including gloss blue, flat black coated, and even stainless. I chose a low gloss blue. For the bolt I requested a machine turned or jeweled finish.
Yes, this rifle has sights. They can be omitted, but I like them. A threaded muzzle is also an option, but I thought it wasn't needed on this particular rifle.
Some like the old style hinged floorplate, but I ordered the drop box magazine, plus 2 spares.
Most likely this 24" barreled 30-06 will wear a Leupold VX5HD I already have still new in the box.
Almost anything within reason they can do. Most wood is straight grained, but very nice, and occasionally a nice blank shows up, and can be added to bring your rifle up a bit.
In a week or so, I plan to run some Barnes 165gr TTSX factory loads through it, then use that brass to build some handloads with the same bullets. If it's like every other Savage rifle I've owned, half inch groups are the norm, and 3/4 inch groups are a disappointment.
