Swift A-Frame .375 300 Grain Bullets

Now if only they would restock the complete ammunition.

Got the email too. Buy e'm while you can.

If they did that is handloaders would be mad they weren’t selling components.:LOL:
Well, I kind meant they could sell complete ammunition while still selling components.

I know I was half joking as it seems companies can only do one or the other. Just like at trophy bonded bear claw which is now impossible to source as a component.

I have seen it said that federal made a decision not to offer it as a component any more. not sure how true it is.

Honestly, Swift makes a fine bullet .... but not the only good bullet. I grow weary of "waiting" for these cattle ranchers turned bullet makers to be able to make enough to make them dependable suppliers.
I made the switch to Barnes TSX for this very reason.
I really do not understand their complete lack of an ability to meet demand other than this is just how they like to do it.....Boggles my mind.

The owner is Bill Hober and he is a retired Pepsi executive. Just another reason to prefer coke over Pepsi.

Having said that, I stick to using Swift A-Frames because they just work.

If he were an exec with Pepsi then he should know that “fame is fleeting” and if you don’t take care of your customers someone else will.
Barnes has done that.

I don't think he cares much. From the interviews I've seen with him, seems like just a hobby project for him. Very lackadaisical.

Figures....

Outside-industry execs move into gun products as an opportunity, but don't have our passion.

Seems to me there is a lot of criticism directed personally to Bill Hober. I have only talked to him one time but he was very good to answer my questions. IMO, Swift has considerable difficulty obtaining the type of copper alloy they want for their bullets. At this time, I would give Swift a break. If I get other information, I'll let you know.

Agree. It is all too easy to cast stones from the peanut gallery, while holding incomplete information.

Meanwhile, I stocked up on all the Swift I am likely to use in the next 10 years.

Plan ahead or be willing to use your second or third choice. We all know that Swift A-Frames do not grow on trees!

The man has run the company over 30 years and is in his 80’s. I’m grateful he’s still making bullets because they are the best available for dangerous game. I’d take quality over quantity any day for hunting bullets. If you’d like quantity there’s always Hornady.

I agree about the quality terminal ballistics, and gave Swift A-Frames very good ink in my book Safari Dreams and elsewhere. It's probably my favorite DG bullet, and I like 180gr .30 Sciroccos, too.

But, really, if Bill Hober has run Swift for "over 30 years"...is there any valid reason for the spotty availability? Something is off internally. The A-Frame cannot inherently be that much more difficult to mfg. Other bonded/partition bullet companies seem to meet their respective demand. Just sayin'....

I have been looking for some swift .375 and when I get to looking it seems every caliber from .270 on up has a unavailable on the swift website, I presume swift has just made a choice to faze them out and ramp production of the Socorro
Also seems Speer has discontinued the grand slam in .375 ?
This is a post from 15 Sep 2024. Exactly two years ago.
You used to also lament Swift's insufficient production then. What's changed for you by now?

I’m a Barnes fan. TSX in .375 H&H has done a great job for me over the years. That said, I talked to both Bill and Anthony(Tony) at SCI (Nashville) this year and bought .458 Swift A Frames and Break-Aways in 500 Grain for my next hunt -Ele, Buff, and PG. First time using either on large bore.

Both bullets group well at 100 yards. Looking forward to using them both and I will report results.

Bill and Tony both told me sourcing correct grade copper and tariffs influenced pricing and availability. That and the Break-Away being hand made. Not quoting, but my understanding is they are hand turned on a lathe. Both are affecting availability.

Regardless, it’s nice to have the option of a quality bullet with a great reputation. I don’t shoot enough .458 to appreciate availability. If they perform well, I may look for some in .375 H&H. I had some custom made BARNES LRX 270 Grain I’m looking forward to using on this coming hunt.

**Tony has answered my calls personally during load development and has been a great source for working out details on the right recipe for my 450 Dakota. That also meant a lot to me.

We have lots of awesome bullets these days compared to years ago. We can effectively go down a caliber - in many cases - with the same result. I like TSX but for now am thick with 375 A-Frames - factory Swift loaded, custom bullet and loose bullets. TSX seems the most consistent factory loaded available but CEB is still a favorite of mine.

I think forum prohibits making reference or giving personal references to PH/Outfitters that don't advertise on this forum.

But you can call me. I would be happy to discuss Cape Buffalo .
