My warthog was not a particularly impressive trophy, but it was the final animal on my first hunt and one of the primary targets I had on my list. Most people in camp while we were there had gone home without taking a warthog because they were few and far between. On the last day I had about given up hope on getting a warthog, and even resolved that if the warthogs hadn't shown up by lunchtime I was done hunting them. Just before my internal deadline the warthogs started showing up. I woke up the PH and I was able to fill the tag with a good shot. My initial shots on this hunt were not great, so putting a perfect shot on the last animal of the hunt was a great boost of confidence. This hunt in South Africa was my first hunt of any kind, and closing it out with a good shot on an elusive animal really put the cherry on top of a great trip. It is still one of my favorite mounts to look at.

This is a photo of my dad, his uncle, and me on the last day of our 2019 hunt in South Africa. We had a good time and learned a lot of lessons about shooting, guided hunting, and stories about each other. It was my first hunting trip of any kind, and I definitely had a lot to learn. If you look at my hunt report you'll see evidence of my inexperience with shot placement. My dad and I have travelled the world on hunting trips in Romania, Kazakhstan, and Russia in the years since, but this trip was the opening spark of that relationship. We'd had some ups and downs getting along in the prior decades, but through hunting we got to know and understand each other better.

Woke up on July 7th from our first night on our first South Africa trip to snow! Wind gusts were 30-40mph and the temps were quite cold!

Our 7yr old son was wearing all his coats and borrowed one of the guided extras! The first day we shot a lechwe and I still regret not dragging it back to a shaded spot where the snow was still thick. Would’ve been a great picture!

My son’s first buck hunted after years of only wing shooting brings back great memories. This Blesbok was shot as part of a Macnab challenge in Dullstroom Mpumalanga after a hard stalk and an even better shot.

A few years later hunting with him again in Limpopo Province. The best memories!

@M70375! Really like the character on the broken and broomed tusks of your first bull

The first line shocked me--I thought it meant you only went on one safari and it was your last one, lol.
GREAT KUDU!! What did it tape out? Leopard ain't shabby, either...congrats.
Kudu was 63.25 by 62.5 green. After a year of drying 62.5 by 61.75 with 10.5 bases. Free range! Leopard was 7’ 2” but very thick and Rowland Ward Skull.

I think forum prohibits making reference or giving personal references to PH/Outfitters that don't advertise on this forum.

But you can call me. I would be happy to discuss Cape Buffalo .
