Just double checking this. I always assume .375h&h can be found about anywhere.
Hornady .404 Jeffery ammunition (400Gr DGS & DGX Bonded) can occasionally be found at Tanganyika Arms in Tanzania.Just double checking this. I always assume .375h&h can be found about anywhere.
Maybe a little in South Africa but hard to find everywhere else.Just double checking this. I always assume .375h&h can be found about anywhere.
I have seen this one a few times.I’ve never seen a 404 on any of my hunts.
Hopefully. I mean this isn’t the era of 1979 air travel to Africa.* * *I would say for anyone wanting to hunt with a 404, do so, it's rare for bags not to arrive.
True, but the satisfaction level is completely missing. And I suppose if one arrives with a 404 and their ammo does not show up, someone will have a gun you can use/rent.

Is Norma even still making safari ammo?

The new Norma website layout is NOT intuitive! These products were a little hard to find...
My PH gets his copper bullets from a custom maker in South Africa. I am interested in something lighter than 400 gr (~325 gr) so he looked into it for me. They can make me 404 bullets but very proud of them ($3 each!).I know one guy in the industry that uses a .404 Jeffery. About three years ago I ask a mutual acquaintance of ours that was stateside at the time if he would bring over a 50 count box of Woodleigh bullets.
A few months later I got word that box of bullets was very much appreciated as he had been unable to find anything in Namibia and his supply was down to single digits.
Safari Outdoors in South Africa seems to have basically everything you could wantHornady .404 Jeffery ammunition (400Gr DGS & DGX Bonded) can occasionally be found at Tanganyika Arms in Tanzania.
Seen a lot of it in a gun shop in Lusaka during my last Safari to Zambia.
Safari Outdoor stocks it in South Africa.
But yeah, definitely not something you see regularly in Africa.
Today's Hornady DGX are a legitimate bullet. Over the past few years when Swift and Northfork were basically unavailable, I used DGX ammo. I took 4 Cape buffalo, none of which went more than 40 yards. I also witnessed 2 other hunters use DGX with the same outcome. Would they be my first choice, no, but they are of good quality these days.I hear their bonded bullets aren't great either so just reserve them for range use.
