I actually have the same rifle in 300WM. It’s apparently an R&D prototype rifle with a hand-stamped serial number. I assume it was transferred from New Haven to Columbia when FNA took over M70 production for a few years. But I haven’t pulled it out in a while.

Sounds like you need an Elephant gun. The 375 would be just fine if you like it, but a 40 cal would be better!
I also vote for a 416 Taylor (I have one and it’s great) or 458 Win! that’s what’s missing in your current gun library.

I was thinking the very same thing while typing that.. $3K 10 years ago but all the work after Shaw was DIY. I also had it magna ported for $150 included and it shoots really well! Nosler partitions 1/2-in groups Swift A-frames and Barnes banded solids each less than an inch and within an inch of each other so I go with that.

I have a .30-06 stainless M70 Classic, which I had Cerakoted (heartily recommend it).
Your 22" bbl seems a bit short for a fast .30 or .338, but would be just fine for a .35 Whelen A.I. (250gr/2600fps) as a sort of American "9x62". Beltless, and nearly as fast as the .358 Norma Mag.
