Krieghoff Classic "Big Five" Rifle Picatinny Base

I inquired about this mount directly with Krieghoff International here in PA. According to their head gunsmith the mount itself is available for $230.00 US. However, it needs to be fitted by them, most assuredly at additional cost. Not sure I really believe that. Probably any competent gunsmith could fit it. He said the mount only works with the Aimpoint Acro P2.
I also directly inquired about a picatinny mount mad by Krieghoff UK. According to them, their mount is made to changed out by the gun owner. See below video link. Their mount costs about $180.00 U.S. Unfortunately, the UK regulations won't permit them to ship the mount to the U.S.
Was actually thinking about asking some of our UK based forum members about helping out with acquiring one.
I'm also actually considering getting a gunsmith to mill out a picatinny mount like the UK version.

I'm really not sure as to why a cut out designed to fit specifically would need some gunsmitthing. What I'm therefore guessing is it needs some milling and perhaps regulation.
I had a similar discussion with the head gunsmith at Gordy's and he also alluded to the same. He also mentioned that the rifle needs to be sighted after the fact.
I should also mention that the head of their guns sales advised against using a red dot, said it always may not work. I have no experience with red dots except on pistols which seems to work great.

I had spoken with Kreighoff sales about this at the SCI show. You can order the Aimpoint installed as an option on a new gun or have it installed if your gun has the removable block already installed in the back of the rib. My understanding is it is done at their facility in PA.
Being that they, Krieghoff sales, are offering a red dot as an option I don't think it would be an issue using one as long as it's not some monstrously sized one.

I concur, I'm just relaying what the guy at Gordy's said. Many people have done that mostly going the custom route and are happy.
There is a Krieghoff on sale at Gordy's that claims that it comes with a factory cut out for Aimpoint Accro, I'm guessing it is the same thing.

I just ordered the adapter and installed myself, it’s two torx screws. Took 5 min. Works fine

I take it that was the Aimpoint adapter? If so, do you think it would work with a different site mount than the Aimpoint?

Yes aimpoint adapter. I would assume it would work with anything compatible with Acro footprint.

I like that it co-witnesses the irons in the event of a failure.
No offense, but with that thing protruding over the breech, doesn’t it get in the way when feeding?
The Aimpoint sits flush and low to the barrel, and to me, it just looks much more refined and has a lot more finesse.

Understand about the aimpoint.. But I am a function of form guy first. It in no way gets in the way of things and just flat out works. I am very lucky and can still irons, but in 24 Hyena was also on the hit list (Bugger didn't show up) and I was only taking my double so a night hunt was going to require some kinda optics as Irons don't work in the dark phase of the moon. But it shot so well and more accurately than irons that the rmr has stayed on my 500/416.
