Heym 89b in 577 N.E.

Congratulations! Very fine looking rifle, especially the engraving on the muzzle. I have its twin, although mine has case colors and my gold “577” is on the bottom of the receiver. Both the Barnes TSX and the banded solids will regulate beautifully at around 2050 fps, I use the same charge of H4350 for both. If you prefer lead core bullets, I found H4831sc will fill the case better, and provides equal regulation.

One thing I will mention…I tried shooting mine with a red dot similar to yours, and due to the slight amount I had to raise my head to see through it, I ANNIHILATED my jaw. I had a very tender swollen spot for about two weeks. I recommend not using one on that rifle, but everyone is different.

I would definitely like some load info if your willing to msg me it. I put 6 shots thru it today and was able to sight in the rmr. So far it was not that bad a bit more recoil than my 500 but really not that much more I think I could have shot double what I did no problem. It defiantly has some muzzle rise to it and the triggers are a noticeable harder pull weight that my other heym doubles but I don’t think it will take much practice to be able to handle it just like my 500 nitro.

Good to hear! I max out at 8 to 12 shots at full power. I can shoot my reduced loads all day! I will IM you my go-to loads, hopefully you have amassed some reloading gear during your 3 year wait, brass and dies are hardest to find.

On paper, the increase from the 500 to 577 is NOT insignificant…just no an tual experience with the 577 yet.

I will try to explain if you have shot a 450-400 and then shot a 470 it not quite as much of a step up in recoil as that is but it is notable and if you have shot a 470 then shot a 500 nitro there is a small difference and a very slight bit more felt recoil. Going from a 500 to the 577 is a little more step up in felt recoil than jumping from a 470 to a 500 but not much more it definitely has more push and muzzle rise but it is not so bad it’s unbearable and just to much to handle more just be ready for it and let the gun rise and fall back into the sight picture before hitting the second barrel.

Well said others that have got rifles have experienced the same issues I have said. The problems I have had and if you call Germany to order a rifle they will have you go thru Heym USA something about them being the only distribution for the USA.
