What have you killed with the 8x57?

How was the penetration and expansion?

I had trouble's getting my 180gr north fork bullet's grouping with 4895, reloader 17 on the other hand show's much better results in accuracy and velocity. Dropped down the charge for the new load, approx. 56,000 psi for 2865 fps 5 shot average. Having 450+ mg of caffeine in my body didn't help my shooting but I'm sure I will tighten up the group on my next range day. 1.1" for 5 shot's.
I'd love to hunt this bullet this year.

Very accurate using the peep sight. Now that we can use center fire rifles in the southern farm country. I’ll put it to use this Deer season also.

With my 8x57 I killed the notion that it is outdated- lol. As for people saying there is limited bullet selection. I say how many do you need? I’d wager if one were to buy a custom rifle chambered in 8x57 it will shoot as good as any custom rifle with ammo it likes. Just saying.

Throw in the B.C. of .521 as well. It'll retain good energy down range.
BC schmeecee. How much difference does it make when you know your rifle? LMAO. I see all these clowns in the states worrying about BC and they can’t even hit a target off hand at 100 yards. Then they go buy expensive scopes, other expensive equipment with intentions to shoot to 1000 and 1200 yards but can’t even hit at 500 or figure out their ballistic apps. Too funny. I suppose they forget the 8x57 and 30/06 shot to 1000 in competitions decades ago. Yes there certainly more efficient cartridges and yes they have high BCs, but the masses that buy this stuff might be better served to keep it simple and practice a lot more. Especially offhand with snap shooting thrown in. There are so many clowns adjusting this and that , reading cards or something else when they should exercise more practical skills. And if the SHTF someone slinging shots your way aren’t going to wait for you to get set up-lol. And neither will their quarry. And they shoot prone if not on a bench. For hunting that is virtually useless much of the time due to terrain and plant life, likely the same for someone shooting at you. I’m not mocking anyone here . Just saying.

Hi Dr. Ray, I will be in Cooktown from Oct 16 to Oct 23 fishing Lizard Island Black Marlin Tournament.

I have several "slack" days after fishing before I head for stay in Sydney and Fiji.

Do you have any recommendations for 1 or 2 day hunt near Cooktown?

I've hunted both DG and PG in 4 different countries in Africa.
Thank you,
Bob

Good morning. I see that you had a Sauer 202 for sale for $3,000. Did you sell it at that price?
I have one for sale as well. I listed it (on here ) at $3,000 as well. Is the price high, low or right where it should be?

Thanks. Alex. [redacted] in case you want to call me to discuss further. I appreciate your time help and support.

Dave, I could use both of them if still available. I just picked up a new .22 mag and a .22 pump that they would be perfect on.
