Thanks again @AZDAVE, 2 weeks ago I received my Dakota 76 in .338 WM. While waiting on scope mounts I shot it using the Irons. It shot amazingly but I struggled to see the front sight.

I commented on adding a chunk of diamond or a piece of warthog ivory.

Dave responded saying that he had pieces of elephant ivory. And how it works much better the warthog ivory.

So here is my new front sight on the Dakota.

I’m going to add Ivory to the irons of every rifle I may need to use iron sights on. The .338 isn’t a a close range rifle but at least I can see the sights now.

That’s the way, I can just see a nice big white bead .

Is the Elephant Ivory much better than Warthog, as I need to do this to & was it two part epoxy long drying type ?

Looks good, most people use warthog now as it resists yellowing and doesn’t have environmental idiots jumping up and down (as much) I’ve known people to buy old clapped out pianos just to get the ivory keys. I’ve got some old keys , but use warthog as it’s cheaper

A few years ago when DSC was still in Dallas I had a great time talking to both @AZDAVE and @Red Leg at Gileys just the three of us before they opened the doors at our AH dinners. Great people!

I spent am hour and a half with @AZDAVE on the phone today. The man is a gracious in sharing his knowledge as anyone i have met. I am a huge fan.
 
He is a great guy to buy a gun from. Especially if it needs custom loads or tech support

Hi Dr. Ray, I will be in Cooktown from Oct 16 to Oct 23 fishing Lizard Island Black Marlin Tournament.

I have several "slack" days after fishing before I head for stay in Sydney and Fiji.

Do you have any recommendations for 1 or 2 day hunt near Cooktown?

I've hunted both DG and PG in 4 different countries in Africa.
