CCH or engraving on a bespoke?

I’m torn. And I don’t care for the look of both on a rifle. I’m a year away from purchasing a bespoke heirloom rig and working with a gunmaker to build it. I’m trying to make my mind up ahead of time.

What have any of you guys done before, and could you share some pictures please.

I had the same dilemma on my custom built Heym (Don't have it yet so can't give you pics). I went with CCH. Just think its more dramatic and sets it apart a little bit. I see a lot more engraved rifles out there than I do CCH.
 
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Look at lots of examples online to see what you like.

Personally, I cannot stand CCH, it looks sloppy to me. Plain bluing or silver is more appealing visually than CCH.

A very light touch of subtle gold line on a few edges and gold lettering for the cartridge can add a nice visual appeal. Less is more is true for engraving most of the time.
 
CCH would be my choice.

To my mind there can only be one focal point on a firearm, or else it begins to look gaudy. Engraving, or gold inlay, or fantastic wood, etc., but not all at the same time.

Altogether things look overdone, kinda like a girl that's already pretty that pancakes on the makeup.

I know precisely what you’re talking about here. There was this chick in Panama once.., er, uh.. thread drift… on my own thread. Never mind.

Yes. Over cosmetic applications of bling take away from the natural beauty of the craftsmanship. This is why I’m torn!
 
Here is this. I like it, and it’s a bit different, though my elderly mama says it is, “Too Much”.

I sent the bits off to my friend in England for engraving. LeRoy Barry at Canyon Creek handled the rest of the metalwork and restocking. It’s as fine a rifle as I’ve seen and it shoots as good as it looks.
 
By the way, I obviously disagree with the notion that it is garish to mix case hardening and engraving. That flies in the face of well over a hundred years of bespoke gun making.

Sometimes, basic with light points of elegance is best.

Here we have the same Weatherby MK V, but in the simple oil finished Euromark.

Just my 2 cents.
 
I love deep engraving in game scenes and deep scroll.
 
I just realized I forgot to add pictures, anyway I went with a little of a less is more approach. Not full cover engraving but instead a little engraving on all metal parts, also no game scenes to make it less of an Africa only rifle. Of course one can hunt anywhere with a rifle even if it has a Buffalo on the magazine lid, but it sort of feels out of place on your average swedish moose hunt...so I opted for just english scroll instead.
