Sure thing, he’s very skilled in a number of areas but his bread and butter is restyling common bolt rifles to be more in line with European styling for sporting rifles a century ago. I’ll include a photo but he makes these to order and customer spec, so it involves a lot more than stock reshaping. Very excellent work. I’ve sent some folks his way with broken stocks that were beyond repair that needed a new one made, and he was able to deliver for less than the price of a duplication service.

He also used to do some pretty cool conversions of Ruger No. 1's to make them more like Farqies didn't he?

It almost sounds like what happened to my friend, he was offered a lucrative position as the head gunsmith for APRS( lightforce/nightforce group of companies ) and shut his shop up, moving all current projects, stock and equipment (two 40” shipping containers worth) to APRS and a local make believe gunsmith went running around telling everyone that Larry had retired and that the idiot had taken on all his work and bought all his equipment, the idiot was too stupid to realise that people who knew Larry would immediately ring him and ask what was going on, but the rumours spread and seemed to multiply

No he didn't. Very easy to look up and save yourself a felony.

I can't believe that anyone would ship a rifle without having the appropriate FFL in hand.
I really can't believe that anyone would send him work, as nice as it is, without having evidence of and FFL when shipped. And hard to believe that anyone would take in work that has to be covered within the definition of an FFL.

Alot of old timers are understandably frustrated by gun laws. But breaking them because you disagree only helps strengthen the case that we (gunmakers/gunsmiths) need to be regulated. Legislation was already proposed and thankfully not passed banning gunsmithing. And if guys think they aren't the problem with their 1 or 2 guns....they are the problem. Enabling bad behavior is the issue. Anyone who engages in it is no better or different than any left/right politician who deals in insider trading.

I deal with clients that are in the wrong side of regulatory agencies at times. This attitude is not very bright. If you invite one part of the federal government into your home, you are inviting all of them in.
I agree his work is nice. And I don't like the laws. However, if he doesn't have the proper FFL, he is putting his customers at risk to be charged with a crime and to potentially lose their firearm. He's not a big target under this administration, but he could become an example in the future with a different group in power.
If he does not have an FFL, he displays a total lack of good judgement. Anyone who does business with him and knows this is also showing a lack of good judgement. Why would you knowingly support someone who may cause you an issue. He is showing a total lack of regard for others, their property and reputation with this type of action. Why would you support him?
