Heym versus Rigby

I really like the Color Case Hardening look that Heym will do on their Express Magnum bolt action rifles. If one were to order a rifle custom made from Heym, what’s the wait time?
Rigby now offer colour case hardening on actions as an upgrade. My new Highland Stalker in 9.3, just waiting on my z8i to mount on it.

Okay now that's a WOW!!!!! Stunning!!! I just bought and have used my first Z8i mine is a + and it is amazing compared to the others I have used Leupold and lower value Swaro's. It is truly a step above...you know that @Philip Glass knows what he is talking about lol!!!!

It will be interesting to see what this rifle makes at auction later this month.

I've been a Holt's customer for about 20 years now. I would warn readers that their auction estimates are usually half of the hammer price. They keep the estimates low to tease out maximum interest. Add to that, then you have the hammer premium. Then you pay 20+% VAT on all of it. Then you delude yourself that you should get the VAT refunded but realize its so much effort, you don't waste your time. Then you have storage. Freight forward of firearms inside of the UK. Then international shipping. Then you have BATF importation and engraving of importer marks. Then freight forwarding to your FFL. Then your normal transfer fee. Oh, and you have international wire fees, plus you have foreign transaction fees and then credit card processing surcharges.

I strongly recommend paying 250 pounds to have a gun evaluator look at the weapon you'll be bidding on before you decide to bid.

The best rough estimate of what a gun in the UK at auction costs you as an American is taking the hammer price with buyer's premium in UK Pounds, double it, and that is roughly the landed price in US dollars.

You really don't go to the auction houses looking for "deals" because you're the dumbest sucker on the planet anytime you're the highest bidder on the best advertised gun sale of the year. You buy at auction because you're looking for a Holy Grail - Unicorn that you want at any price and exists at no price anywhere else on the planet.

It is better than a Highland Stalker . It has a single square bridge action with H&H style QD mounts . A very expensive option . Also a longer barrel . The only thing that puts me off is the thread on the end of the barrel . For a suppressor ? Illegal over here in OZ .

I’ve been a long term buyer of firearms through Holts too . I agree it is best suited for the Unicorn firearms . And also agree that the estimates on very fine firearms tend to be too low . On more common weapons not so much . Buyers do need to be cognisant of the Buyer’s Premium which is high . What does surprise me is the costs outlined to bring weapons into the USA . In Australia I do not have to pay the UK VAT tax but I do pay 10% Tax on the all in landed costs . In terms of collection from the auction house , paperwork and freight charges I use a guy with the appropriate credentials who specialises in this . We will bring in weapons in bulk - from Holts, Gavin Gardiner and other UK auction houses to amortise all the costs . I would allow US$ 700 - 800 for all this . But I have to be patient - it could take 3 or 4 months .
