Is this a failure from conservation for not handling a problem that should have been rectified with the first death not the 25th?

i,d sure try to find a way to kill that murderes bastard, i think india has to have a court hearing before getting rid of a maneating tiger. in the mean time mr tiger gets to eat more people. that killer elephant would no last a day around here, before being shot by locals. goverment be damned.

Agreed. "Cultural issues" are at the heart of their exponentially increasing population problem. At least Bangladesh has made concerted efforts to address the real problem. Teaching about birth control is part of the curriculum even in daycares and kindergarten! Different religion/culture there.

This is the stuff movie franchises are made of! Anyone remember a certain great white shark? We're talking "Tusk: The Revenge" here. Dhurbe survives a battle against two platoons and evades collaring efforts three times, he's earned the right to avenge some of his kind. Especially that brave one that "wasn't a shooter" in the last ele vid that never would have posted had there been a misfire.

Read it again. This rogue elephant has been darted, tranquilized, recollared, and released TWICE since the previous order to euthanize him.

I did; I said THREE (3) times. My meaning was he survived those also. He's a survivor, a warrior, a legend; he's got power over the people. Any wild beast with a name has earned respect.

That elephant clearly is a dindu…he dindu nuffin!!

His wiki page is even more impressive. He's got groupies, he's into flipping houses; if he was a white elephant, he'd be compared to a Ford Bronco. They've chopped his tusks and his tail already; no wonder he's mad. Consider this: there's a group of people over there who say, "Elephants don't kill people; people kill people;" and the defenders of culture in this thread imply the same thing. Conversely, there's another group in this thread implying, "Elephants are killing people; we need to ban those and repeal the Elephant Amendment." There's a cultural element at play here and one over there. Maybe leave those people and their elephant alone?

At the end of the day its not my problem.

A cultural and religious issue. Cannot be judged by Western standards of thinking.
I understand what you’re saying and at the end of the day it is not an issue for us in the states. However all cultures judge other cultures and not every aspect of anyone culture is perfect. Societies outside of America seem to be historically hive minded. It’s highly unlikely that a grizzly is gonna get the chance to kill more that one or two people before someone makes fertilizer out of him.

there will always be a bami group hanging around no matter what country. it doesn,t mean killing all animals, only the ones who are doing the killing. and in this case the animal is well know and a repeat offender, he seems to have a hate for human beings ,and no matter what caused the hate he needs to be gone yesterday.

If you have read The Temple Tigers or any of Jim Corbett's fine books you would understand the culture and indeed a different view to life and death. I can't say it is better or worse ...... They try and live with ...We in the west have destroyed almost all our predators.
