I am having problems with my R8 sticking with both the 6.5 CM and 8x57 barrels. My gunsmith friend gave me some weird lube he is selling and it gunk-ed up my action and barrel.

What is a good (available in Europe) solvent that will strip the gunk, but will leave the Blaser DLC carbon alone?

What does destroyed mean?

Use a degreaser to clean the bore and chamber, then apply a very light very thin coat of light gun oil to the chamber and bore. That should solve the problem.

For most degeasing and general cleaning of problem firearms, first I remove the stock from the action and barrel, then I just use hot to the touch water, dawn dish soap, bronze and/or nylon bore and chamber brushes, a swab, and plenty of cleaning patches with a bore jag.

I’d just use petrol (gasoline) and air pressure.

Trade it in for a Sako or Tikka in 6.5 CM and a CZ 550 in 8x57... problem solved!
Using a wet lubricant will gunk up any quality firearm regardless of brand. I'm 50/50 on an AK, SKS, pretty much all Russian and Chinese knock off copies of Russian rifles as being quality rifles. Those damn things work as long as the barrel is clear and the bolt works.

But I will agree with you. LOL.

He should offer to sell that nasty, sticking, troublesome, 2 barrel set R8 to me for half his cost just to get rid of it.
He can then buy a Sako or Tikka never use that crap wet lube his gunsmith is peddling and be grateful for having 2 separate rifles to lug around.;)

Well damn!....Forgot he's in Europe. No worries maybe we split the export - important cost to the US.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Anything that starts out with 6.5CM is going to go straight downhill!
Give me the original, undisputed 6.5 Champ, the 6.5x55 Swede anyday!

6.5 Swede on a set of skis is a brute commando
6.5 Creed is a man bun waiting to be find its identity.

LOL.

It is best to wash the barrel with detergent for dishes. You clean the barrel with a fine brush especially where is the chember, and then spray it with Ballistol. As he said Ridge

Ballistol?
Ballistiol is not a solvent, they make as solvent as a company but that is not what I assume you are talking about.

So ballisol makes a solvent, and I bought two cans of it and brake cleaner today at the hardware store.

We will see what it takes.

Don't assume. I was trying to be helpful.

Plain old traditional Hoppes No. 9 Gun Bore Cleaner is my go to for getting out grease and gunk. I will use old school grease inside and out for long term storage, which is excellent for protecting the metalwork from corrosion. But it must be removed from the bore before shooting! And the traditional Hoppes No. 9 Gun Bore Cleaner works nicely for the purpose, while posing no danger to the finish or coating of most firearms. The one thing I know not to use it on is the titanium cylinders of the ultralight S&W revolvers, as it has a little bit of ammonia and any amount of ammonia isn’t good for the protective coating on those.

I doubt any brand of gun cleaning solvent would damage the metal finish on a Blaser barrel. Ballistol should be readily available in Germany, and is my first choice as a lubricant, unless grease is recommended. If it will not remove the 'gunk', any name brand gun cleaning solvent should.

See you are from Denmark - see quite a few Danes where I stalk in Scotland - great hunters.
The Harkilia stuff works well in Africa - I have a bit for use here in UK.
I am again looking for 600 Nitro dies preferably RCBS 1 inch. The set I purchased previously are 1 1/2 inch and do not fit my die. Another member has graciously taken them off my hands. If anyone happens to have a set of 600 Nitro Dies that will fit my Rockchucker Supreme RCBS press, please shoot me a message and thanks in advance for any assistance you may have to offer!
I have not posted any items for sale on this forum and will not every put anything for sale. My account was hacked and I've worked with the admin to get things shut down.
