I picked a month a go one in stainless steel 7mm Rem Mag Mark II with a Boyds stock in left a hand. For $730 and thought it was a great deal. The real plus was it looks like it hasen't been fired but a few times.
Brickman, congratulations, that's a good buy considering that new Ruger Americans & other plastic stocked rifles are in that price range! I think it's a very good buy. Ruger 77s are great rifles. This being Tuesday, I hope that rifle is in your hands now!The shop closes early on Saturdays, unfortunately there just wasn’t enough time in the day. My hunting property is an hour from where I live, and the shop that has the rifle is another hour in the opposite direction from where I live.
The good news is the shop has it on hold for me till I can slip over there on Tuesday!
On the bright side everything was great at the hunting property! No one had been up there since late January. Had to check on the camper, and make sure the tractors, mowers, etc, were all in good working order. Everything started and ran great!
Got lots of pictures of turkeys on my trail cameras. Hopefully they stick around for the spring season.

Yes I got it!!Brickman, congratulations, that's a good buy considering that new Ruger Americans & other plastic stocked rifles are in that price range! I think it's a very good buy. Ruger 77s are great rifles. This being Tuesday, I hope that rifle is in your hands now!![]()
Yes I got it!!
Picked it up after I got off work.
I’ll post pictures soon!

Here's what we came up with. (The pics are old so please forgive the quality of them.)

I know this response was to someone else, but I’m the original poster, and I’m in need of the shiny stainless scope rings.- makes good rings.
-Alaska arms LLC makes my favorite rings
- factory rings are still available too, if you know what height rings you want ( front is shorter than rear ) I can dig through my inventory and see if I have any stainless ones.
I know I have a pile of blued and Matt stainless but not sure on the shiny stainless
I’ll take a look this weekend and see what I can find for you.I know this response was to someone else, but I’m the original poster, and I’m in need of the shiny stainless scope rings.
I’m looking for #4 and #5 rings. If you have them and are willing to part with them please PM me, and let me know what you want for them.
Thanks
Thanks!I’ll take a look this weekend and see what I can find for you.
Thanks, I’m sure I’ll love it. Funny you mention it, but my plan is to shoot heavy bullets from this rifle. Was thinking no lighter than 180’s but most likely 200’s or even 220’s.Good for you Brickman! The Ruger M77 MkII is an "Everyman's Classic" and one of the easiest bolt guns to mess about with:

If a knucklehead like me can get it dialed in and ready to go, anyone can! Mine is a "Plain Jane" variant that prefers the heavier bullets over the lighter ones.
Great grab and you are going to love being able to load for most anything with that platform.
Jeez Bob, that is one beautiful rifle…
Good deal! Congrats! I think you're going to like it. I'm happy and excited for you. I'm looking forward to seeing some pics!
BTW, I liked using my Ruger M77 Mk II in .30-06 on my trip to South Africa way back in 2002 well enough (see my previous post in this thread) that I decided to buy another one and have my gunsmith play around with it. Yeah, call me crazy. Here's what we came up with. (The pics are old so please forgive the quality of them.)
Cheers! Bob F.

Whit the little bit of dry firing I’ve done, I believe someone worked on the trigger. It feels pretty light and smooth with no creep.Hey Brick,
Let us know how the trigger is on your new pick up. With the MkII’s, the only real complaint was a sort of mushy trigger. Most people did a nice stone job on the trigger and came up with a very serviceable and good feeling trigger with a beautiful break. Of course, Ruger decided to upgrade the triggers when they went to the Hawkeye platform.
I’m assuming with your new rifle, if someone went to the trouble of putting on a beautiful chunk of wood, they also smoothed up the trigger.
Thanks! That was my thoughts exactly.Hell yeah!
Oh, I’m definitely going to handload for it. Already reload 30-06 for several other rifles I have in that chamber. You’ll find that even with cheap ammunition the rifle shoots admirably. When you start reloading your own, things get really cool…
I looked back at the thread and the pic that I posted of mine is inaccurate- that sight in was at 100 yards, not 200 yards.
I was on the road the other day for work and stopped by a semi local gun shop on my lunch break. I seen a used Ruger M77 ii for sale in 30-06. It’s stainless, the shiny stainless not the dull finish, in what I believe is a laminated Boyds stock. It does not have any scope rings.
So here’s my dilemma, I don’t need another 30-06, but for some reason I can’t stop thinking about this rifle! It was priced at $590. If I wasn’t on my lunch break, I probably would have picked it up then. So what do you and enablers think?
Should I take the drive this weekend and pick it up?
Crappy cell phone pic I took of it.
