375hh 250-270g bullet load

Wow, the above didn't look that way when I posted! lol You can figure it out (turned from rows into columns.) If you wish to make the reticles line up more closely to 300, 400, etc. simply adjust the sight-in height a bit.

I recommend sticking with the heavier slugs (265-270) as the BC and SD are better and they carry energy better, out farther. Plus, it can easily be used for DG using the 270s (or quickly re-dialed in for other more suitable 270s, solids, etc.) The LRX will work, but not necessary at 400, and better terminal performance bullets exist. I love the old MRX if you can find any of them (like a base-weighted TTSX).

*Due to the lower V (longer TOF) and large surface area you will experience wind drift effects on the .375, so I'd also recommend a scope with windage dots off to the sides of the reticles. Those can be dialed in as well. Waiting for the shot is an even better idea, if possible. If I recall correctly, you'll get about a foot of wind drift (in 10 mph) at 400, in 375 using 270s.
 
So what bullet? should I use? I am not real familer with the north forks? I am tempted to go ith nosler accubonds or partions in 260/270 grain what ever they come in. I am just looking to flatten the drop some. 400 yards would be my out side range unless everthing was just right and I couldnt get closer/
 
I would buy a 338 WM.....
 
Nos PTs are good for <450 yd shot accuracy (they're less dense, longer, better BC). Swift A-frames, TTSX or even TSX. All great for terminal performance, but out of all of 'em the NPs will likely group and perform better. Just not on DG, excepting big bears. And, DG will not likely be shot much over 100 yds.
 
Loaded to similar velocity, the 300 grain Sierra Game King has a trajectory nearly identical to the traditional match .308 Win 175 Sierra Match King. I have had my best results with RL-17, but that powder is pretty difficult to obtain these days. There are quite a few optics available with holdover reticles calibrated for the .308 Win/175 SMK combo, making the 300 SGK an attractive option, IMO. Despite what the paper ballistics may state, I have found the 300 SGK to drift significantly less in the wind than the .308 Win/175 SMK does. I am not sure why that is the case, but my best guess is that it has to do with sheer bullet mass.

The Speer 270 BTSP is definitely worth a look. I am currently working on loads for this bullet with Alliant TS 15.5, VV N550, and VV N555.

I have had promising results with the Barnes 250 TTSX and CFE 223.

As others have mentioned, the Nosler 260 Partition and Accubond are likely good options for your application.

Try both the PT and the AB.
Use the one that shoots best in your rifle.
Aside from African DG, those will kill anything on earth up to 400m.
 
I'm a fan of the 250 TTSX. I think it's a great hunting bullet up to and including Eland.
 
I run the 270gr Barnes TSX and RL15 powder. I took my eland at 405 yards, one and done shot. next longest shot was on a Hartebeest at 240yds, same results

I am again looking for 600 Nitro dies preferably RCBS 1 inch. The set I purchased previously are 1 1/2 inch and do not fit my die. Another member has graciously taken them off my hands.
