I was about to pull "trigger" on late April kudu rut hunt in Botswana. What are your thoughts on air travel and your hunt plans. Definitly Qater Airlines is out!

If you planned to travel through Doha or Dubai you might want to make other plans. I think it’s likely that the Middle East travel disruption will be over by then, but why chance it? United from Newark to Johannesburg….Delta from Atlanta to Johannesburg….Lufthansa from several American cities to Johannesburg with a stop in Frankfurt or Munich……all are safe bets.

Aside from travel routes, there’s no reason to change your safari plans.

It doesn't impact my South Africa hunt in two weeks.

But, it could affect my September ibex hunt in Kyrgyzstan if it stretches out that long. I haven't purchased the plane tickets yet. I'm wondering if I should wait for the war to end.

I'm a bit concerned about terrorism on the ground more than being shot down in a jet. I haven't purchased my tickets yet and am waiting to see how this unfolds. Fuel price increases will drive up plane fares so that's something to consider.

FLYING THRU DUBAI END OF MAY, COUNTING ON THEM BEING SORTED OUT BY THEN.
Same with me. I am flying through Dubai in Sept on way to S.A. If it is not sorted by August or so I will just switch routes.

However my wife helps run a conference in Sharjah, (right next store to Dubai) in November. We are anticipating recruiting speakers may be a bit more of a challenge than usual this year.

Well, I will need to be re-routed… Was flying through Dubai to get my connection through Joberg in the am for this October. Maybe it will all be worked out by then! I doubt it and I’m not that lucky. I still have a deposit on a Kamchatka Moose and Bear hunt from 4 Years ago. Good thing it wasn’t a large deposit!

The Doha flights are certainly affected but for how long?

I’m flying Emirates in September, SFO to JNB. I’m not concerned. This will all be over well before then. And if by chance it’s not, we’ll all have much bigger things to worry about than hunting in Africa.

I’m guessing this might be beneficial to prices (I hope so) and I need to book another trip to Zambia in November. Again, I’ll be flying Emirates or Qatar. Probably Emirates Premium Economy since it’s 1/2 the cost of Biz Class.

Turkish airline is the way to go. They travel to all former soviet countries through Istanbul. I toook them many times, good service.

Good morning,
Did you hunt w Leeuwkop at their ranch or in Zimbabwe? The ranch looks awesome, but I'll be in Zimbabwe for buffalo and whatever else we dig up.
What did you hunt for?
Vaccines?
What rifle did you use?
I feel like I need a good cotton safari shirt and an ammo belt to make the hunt feel right!
How often did you shoot prior to going?
Did you use sticks for shooting practice?
