Do any of our regular members have a Shiloh Sharps that you would consider selling? I'm looking for a Creedmoor, Long Range Express or Sporter model in 45-70 or 40-65. Not looking for a military model. Thought I would check in here along with the usual locations for Shilohs. Also, I'm only interested in established forum members...don't bother reaching out with a new account.

You're gonna have to grow a mustache like Quigley!

I was going to go the other direction and get some short shorts and a Hawaiian shirt...

The rifle is probably cheaper than the Ferrari.

Buffalo Arms has a Shiloh 40-65 and a 45-110 in stock on consignment. The 45-110 comes with a lot of extras; I'm short on disposable income right now or I would be interested.

40-65
45-110

Genuine question how far could you shot one of these?
Loved the movie as a kid….”Never said I couldn’t shoot a pistol”!

Using iron sights, I've hit the white buffalo target at the Whittington Center in Raton, NM....1,123 yards from firing line. That target is 6 ft x 10 ft. More commonly, I've shot silhouettes out to 500 meters.

I drove through Raton once on my way to Boulder. There was a 500 acre plot surrounded by mesas for sale just east of Raton I wish I could have purchased and retired on. Alas, that was right before I knew what retirement was (and what a retirement account was!). I still Google Earth that spot now and again and I still have the pic I took when I whizzed past and had to turn around.

Check out gunsinternational.com. Also, the auction houses here in the states. Poulin Auctions, Rock Island Auctions, Montrose Auctions.

Don’t overlook C Sharps if one shows up. I owned and shot both at same time. The C Sharps consistently outshot the Shiloh Sharps. Both were made about the same time, late 90s. IIRC, C Sharps, at that time, was using Badger barrels. The tightest 5 shot group I’ve ever shot with one of the big single shot, BPCR type rifles was with that C Sharps in 45-110.

Yes, checking all the usual places. I just missed a nice one from Bill Goodman, who I have bought 3 Sharps from. Incidentally, Bill is going to be ending his run as the main dealer for Shiloh Sharps after so many years. Shame to hear that.

I usually buy Shilohs as I think the resale is stronger with them. I am considering a CPA Stevens built rifle. I love being able to switch barrels, even to rimfire. Beautiful rifles...

Murphys Guns in Tucson AZ has one of the nicest Shilo Sharps i have ever seen in 40/65. I beleive its brand new. The owner ordered it and waited years then never shot it. Give them a call. 520-881-7074

Thanks. I will give them a call tomorrow.

Target- C Sharps, aperture tang rear with globe front, 45-110. 5 shots. Almost can’t accurately measure group size. Had a Shiloh in 45-70. as mentioned, and an original Sharps M1874 in 44-90. The original, DOM 1874, shot about on par with the modern Shiloh.

Buffalo silhouette at Whittington Center is a classic. A Billy Dixon 1538 yarder was talked about but deemed too controversial. More fun to watch others shoot the Buffalo than to shoot it yourself. ;)

Two other Shiloh guns I had a lot of experience with belonged to friends. One, a 45-70 in heavy Sporter config, that shot about like my Shiloh. Don’t get me wrong, the Shilohs are excellent and top shooters compared to other big single shots. The other friend’s Shiloh, also in 45-70, was the only one that came close to my C Sharps. Interestingly it was in a light Sporter config. I was spotting for it one time at 300 yards as my friend was load testing. Good lighting for watching the bullets in flight through the spotting scope. I watched shots 1, 2, 3 dive into target for a triangle shaped clover leaf hole at 9 o’clock in the bull. I told him to stop right there and keep that target! That was about 10 or 12 years ago. He still has the target. :)

Have a CPA made 2012, has badger barrel. Never fired , but is 40-65. Send cell for pics if interested. Thanks,Randy

I have one that I ordered through Bill Goodman in 2019 that took over a year to deliver because of the pandemic. Anyway, it is a 45-70 saddle rifle with 26" half octagon barrel, bone charcoal case hardened receiver and buttplate, AA wood, pewter forend tip and brass escutcheons. I doubt I've shot 50 rounds through it. 4k shipped.
