Does anyone know much about these rifles in 375 hh? I've heard there's a custom shop version and a later version. Is there a way to tell what it is? What are the differences?

I’ve used the “later versions” in 300 win and 7mm mag on aoudad hunts.

They just come stock with 5R rifled barrels -which are usually just fantastic and they come cerakoted. Sporting great beefy stocks that I guessed were HS precision but they are actually Greyboe stocks, Fantastic.

I don’t think 375 h&h was released for the on the shelf “awr” option.

So if you see a 375 is most certainly a custom shop or job.

The original Remington 700 Alaskan Wilderness Rifle was built in their custom shop, had a black polymer type finish over a stainless barrel, Aramid fiber reinforced fiberglass stock and were chambered in a variety of calibers up to 375 H&H. Similar to the custom shop 700 KS except with the weatherproof properties. Later they upgraded the 700 Alaskan Wilderness Rifle to the 700 AWR II, from their custom shop with a Bell & Carlson synthetic stock and TriNyte black finish over stainless. I thought they were excellent rifles from their custom shop.

Much later, around 2016 Remington introduced the Model 700 American Wilderness Rifle which had a cerokoted finish and Grayboe synthetic stock. They were not chambered in 375 H&H I’m pretty certain as previously mentioned. These were not Custom Shop rifles and their quality was not equal to the custom shop Alaskan Wilderness Rifles.

Obviously confusing since both were advertised as Model AWR but there really is no comparison, the Custom Shop Alaskan Wilderness Rifle and AWR II were superior rifles of better quality (cost a lot more too) and most are stamped “Custom Shop” but I’m not certain if the first Alaskan Wilderness Rifles from the 90’s were stamped custom shop but they are easy to tell the difference, they’ll have a black polymer finish over a stainless barrel that the black finish doesn’t hold up too well and a black Aramid fiberglass stock.

Is there a way to tell which one this is based off the serial number? It's S6334995

“s” makes it most likely makes it a late 90’s or early early 2000s build.

Post some pics. @BJH65 shared lots of details on custom shop guns and early builds. You and him might be able to figure the rifle out if you get some pics.

Remington doesn’t date mfg by serial number but by 2 digit code on barrel.

You have a photo?

It's not mine, just thinking about it. The only barrel marking I can see is this.

That looks like the right side of barrel. 2 digit date markings are on the left side. That tiny photo isn’t much to go on? It doesn’t not look like a Grayboe synthetic stock from that photo. The stock looks like an Alaskan Wilderness Rifle stock. You have a complete photo of rifle?

From the pics I see there's nothing on the left side of the barrel besides the caliber. Here's a pic of the rifle.

Sent you a pm. It’s an Alaskan Wilderness Rifle.

Does it have a J lock on the bolt? They all did originally, but its an easy change, so may have already been swapped out. The contour from the shank is also a bit different (at least on the 300 and 338's). If an original AWR, they are awesome rifles, as were the KS versions. I have had several and still own a KS and a AWR, both in 338. Oh, and same in the Model 7, that one is a 7mm SAUM.

It will not have all the markings of the regular Remington scrolled down the barrel. I cannot remember what all there is, but can look tonight if still needing to know, just PM me.

I have a Rem XCR II in 375 Weatherby (originally 375 H&H). It's a good rifle. The finish on mine is TriNyte Here's a blurb. Mine weighs 7 1/2 lbs with Leupold Scope and Talley steel QR rings

From Remington's site;

The Model 700 XCR II is truly built for extreme conditions with our patented TRINYTE Corrosion Control System. This proprietary process starts with a durable, machined 416 stainless steel barreled action which then undergoes a multi-step coating process, enhancing its corrosion and abrasion resistance to a diamond-like level. A base layer of electroless nickel plating is applied, followed by a satin-finished black PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) layer. Though micro-thin, this protective barrier provides virtual elimination of corrosion and superior abrasion resistance, comparable to the Rockwell Scale rating for diamonds. All exposed metalwork wears the TriNyte finish barrel, action, bolt, bolt head and trigger.

Here's my rifle got my brown bear with it.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is [redacted]. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Good day, Slider.

Do you by any chance have any 500NE brass left that you are willing to part ways with?

Best regards,
Boela Bekker.
