I realize it is an April's Fool Day post, but in reality jet engines have been repurposed to provide electric power, up to 20MW. Of course, not while still in a fighter :ROFLMAO:

Until the LA county board of supervisors got super woke and shut it down for using natural gas the LA County Sanitation Department had a jet engine providing power to all the county buildings in downtown LA. We provided emissions monitoring hardware and software to them for regulatory compliance.

So, now they buy power still generated by natural gas from the light company and it actually costs them much more and less reliable.

Yeah I know...a friend owns the company that supplies and refurbishes the rolls Royce engines used around the world as power plants...

Ice storm of 1998, train engine derailed and driven down the street to power a small town in Quebec. Genius!

While the US bombs empty warehouses and actually gives advance notice...

I guess one could say it was the consulate, but in reality, the consulate building itself was left intact. The residence building part of the compound though...

It should send a strong message to Israel's enemies.

Wonder what the Hamas and Iranian sympathizers in Congress will say, if anything.

I guess those are good news for now. The left is going to take us down one state at a time.

Viva Alaska!! We'll be one of the last if that ever happens, and sure as heck not in my lifetime... which is one of the hundreds of reasons why I am glad I can call it home. :p :E Celebrate:

To everyone who thought that their social media outrage and UN resolutions were going to get Israel to surrender to terrorists…APRIL FOOLS!!!

Absolutely correct, these old jet engines make excellent peak load emergency generators

I know nothing about energy generation or jet engine emissions, but it would be my assumption that if one wanted to reduce emissions, keeping energy sources diverse would allow for lowering emissions without compromising production. To put it another way, why take these engines offline entirely instead of just supplementing them with other energy sources?

It always depends on what you want to optimise for:
- lowest carbon footprint/environmental impact? --> Nuclear plus some back up gas turbines
- lowest economics? --> Nuclear plus some back up gas turbines
- highest dependability? --> Nuclear plus some back up gas turbines

Crap, they excluded nuclear from the possibilities... Why was that again?

EDIT: now to think about it... didn't the Greens also want to exclude gas?

EDIT2: also in the safety aspect... aren't many more people dying every year due to air particulates in the air from coal/gas, and from mining operations for those solar/wind rare earth metals, than there are nuclear powerplant radiation fatalities? I could be wrong... but at least for a nuke, all the waste is located and controlled centrally. Which is not the case for the other technologies.

As I mentioned earlier, great stock to short. Eventually, I expect it to move to penny stocks.

Further digging:

Amazing accounting where one can have a NET profit of $50.5 million on a revenue of $1.47 million. Boggles the mind.

Oh yeah, then they admit to irregularities in financial reporting and that it will continue to be so.

Greatest "snake oil salesman" of all time. As they say "There's a sucker born every minute".

I haven't looked at any of the filings, but having a net profit > gross revenues can be possible and totally legitimate in accordance with GAAP. It would just mean the company generates significant non-operating income (gains on disposal of assets; FX currency gains; other extraordinary income). In this case, it could be that net revenue = sales of memberships, and the accountants have chosen to book other forms of income (licensing; disposal of assets) below operating income (below income after COGS and SG&A expense).

It certainly looks weird, and consecutive years of similar results might suggest the business should reconsider how it's accounting for its revenue/income streams (i.e. if you're a SaaS business but you're regularly buying and selling assets and generating net margin that way, your accountants might suggest you recategorize the sale of assets as revenue vs. other income and the assets you're selling as inventory vs. capital assets).

But yeah, generally not a great look if your net margin is 50x your gross revenues.

Did Biden really need to make that Proclamation about Transgender day of visability on Easter? I realize the days intersected but damn, he's supposed to be Christian and Catholic.

I just don't understand how he can continue to insult Christians and other people of Faith at every turn.

You DO know the story about the frog and the scorpion, don't you?

Yes, and otherwise intelligent people will still support Biden and other Liberals who openly intend to destroy their way of life.

My understanding is that they are trying to express that trans does not have to be in conflict with any religion (and activists would howl if they were to not say anything because it was Easter).

As a non-Christian, I must say that even I had to do a double-take when I saw this. Unfortunate timing indeed…

I was raised in a Catholic family. (Born-again Christian/largely Southern Baptist my whole adult life) I don't get why the Catholic Church doesn't throw him out on his ear, so to speak. Soooo much of what he supports flies in the face of Scripture. We are all sinners and fall short of the glory of God, but there is nothing Christian about his public witness.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.
