Hey everyone!
New to the community and came in to a bunch of 404 Jeffery ammo.

Should I sell it or what’s my best way to get in to a more budget friendly Rifle?

Thanks!!!

That's good factory ammo. Norma (and others) tend to decrease velocities but those ones will do the job. Also Norma brass is good brass

If they are for sale I might be interested. You located in the US?

@Moslizlo, You will need to post a price if it is for sale. The picture you posted is for two boxes of 10 rounds. And since you are new to the forum you will need to build a little history, such as where you are located and contact info only on a PM , not on this thread. What and where you hunt, organizations you are a member of, or likely no one is going to make a deal and send you any money without knowing about you. The two posters above are from South Africa and New Zealand, not from the U.S. So the rules you will have to follow to make a sale there will be different than selling ammo in the U.S. Once someone makes you an offer you will have to take dealing to a PM and work out the details.

Thanks @sierraone had to google to find somewhere to chat about the ammo. It’s probably a round I do not need to keep but I have 27 boxes of it now so am really interested in how to find something on a budget just because why not have an awesome gun and round

so any advice would be appreciated.

Where are you?

Moslizlo, As I mentioned previously, if you are wanting to sell, you must list the sell price. And be sure to tell the forum members about yourself. Then someone wanting to buy that ammo will be contacting you if interested. If you are wanted to buy any something, be specific about what you are looking for then just wait for someone to contact you. For either case, once that contact is made, then you must take you conversation on a PM private conversation. Good Luck.

Hey @sierraone so so far I am not offering or asking for anything but advise.

1. is it worth hanging on to this ammo?
2. If I do what can I get on a budget to shoot this out of?
Looking for advise from what seems to be people that know more about this ammo.

thanks!

OK that is a different question. Just advertise you are looking to buy a .404J. And hold on to your ammo, because factory .404 ammo is expensive.

What’s a good way to get in to 404J? Where’s the budget need to start? I don’t need a museum piece just a shooter. Any advise on what to look at?

Ask if anyone has one for sale or know someone that does. Mine is not for sale.

While I do not like gun broker you can start to get an idea for what brand 404Js are available at what cost. Then come back to us and get an opinion. The two sites I would look to just getting a rough availability and price are guninternational.com and gunbroker.com

404 Jeffreys are extremely expensive. You need to get such foolishness out of your head and sell me that ammo on the cheap. That’s a great plan, as I see it

That looks like 450 grain soft Norma’s

I’ve just bought another 20 rds at $8.00 or $9.00 per round approx

good kit but ain’t cheap

cracking calibre though

A rifle chambered in 404 will not be cheap. You might find one for $3000 in time but I’d bet money you won’t find one for less than $4500-6500. You could possibly find a MRC in that range….

A current production rifle in 404 starts at $12k

I think Woodleigh solids

I've owned two Jeffs one on a CZ550 action built by CZs custom shop and one built on a Winchester Mag action built by an excellent GS, both expensive both a genuine blast to shoot.
If your going to build you need a competent gunsmith. You can check my post( From a Sows ear )on this Website.

Just curious, I know I am a 509, 375, 275 classic guy…what is the mystique for the 404? Expensive and hard to find expensive ammo
