Good day to all members, I believe all is well and good on your side? I need some information. .500 Nitro Express Re-loading dies , what is the "for sale " price on these items ?

I paid $129.99 for mine (Hornady).

The black box looks like a CH4D brand? If that is in fact the brand you could check their sight and get a price on what a new set would cost.

Looks CH4D to me - I’m guessing about $250 for that set , I wonder how close I am

Thank you kindly members, I am awaiting the name of the brand from the owner who wants to sell it.

Dirtdart, I did visit their site, I can not find a .500 Nitro Express die set price

Hi Gert, Each caliber falls into a "group" as far as pricing goes. If this is a 500 nitro 3" it would be group J with each die priced separately.

There is a British brand I cannot recall that also comes in a black box, but is actually private labeled RCBS.

At any rate, the retail on these from the decent die makers is about $130. Because everything is out of stock right now, you can decide if you want to ask above retail for used dies or not.

Prices in other countries may be higher or lower based upon supply.

the file trim die is a valuable add-on if you have it.

They look like CH4D dies, the cost for the 500NE is $247.35. You have to call to order and check on availability. The ch4d shell holder is $19.58

Members, are there any one interested in these re-loading dies? Make an offer, I believe we will be able to get it to the USA with visiting hunters to and from South Africa .

Those are CH4D dies. I have a couple sets (505 Gibs, 577NE, 450/400, 416 Express) and they make VERY good products. The prices I gave were their current price on their website. So if you can get tose for a good price go for it.

Dave , always a pleasure to get great information from members. Dave , these re-loading dies are for sale , I do not need it since I do not have a .500 Nitro Express...I want to sell this for a friend of mine who`s husband died and she has all these different die sets ...

Aw got it. Then price them fairly and someone that needs them will step up.

Yes, Dave , to get a fair price /advantage for the buyer and seller to someone in the USA , this item needs to be move by a visiting hunter to eliminate import/shipping taxes.

Curiosity question for the group: the CH4D label states “custom die set” .. would this have been tooled to fit a particular rifles chamber exactly? I have a CH4D “custom die set” (came with my rifle) for my 450#2 and my chamber’s shoulder is more pronounced than a standard 450#2 . My dies were obviously cut for my chamber.

This is a caliber I still need to build myself on a side by side shotgun action in the future. .450 nr 2 , (y)(y)(y)

You are correct. When you buy a CH4D custom set you mail them two pieces of spent brass. They build the dies to the actual chamber sizes of your gun.

This is why people will wait up to 4 years for a custom set of CH4D dies.

The entire value of the CH4D dies presented isn’t that they are good or that they will work, its that they are for sale for immediate delivery. If there are shenanigans about exporting from Africa and waiting 6 months for them, the value is zero. Good dies that are not custom made to your gun run about $130 from RCBS or Hornady when you can find them, if you can find them. On eBay, you can buy them any day of the week for a +$50 to +$70 premium.

It’s not about selling someone the right dies, its about selling someone dies right now. That is the present mentality. If they were in the USA and could be delivered in 3 days with no-returns or refunds, as-is, you’d get $130 for someone willing to speculate they aren’t so out of spec as to be unusable in their Particular gun.

What other dies sets are for sale?
I land at Tambo at 5:30pm the 25th.
PM me your details and I will give my schedule. I depart the 14th of June.
Cal

Hallo Cal , good to hear from you, I am uploading the photos. Will not be able to get any dies to you. Currently in a process to being operated on. These are all the photos I received from the person who wants to sell.
