Disappointed In My New 404 Jeffery

I believe you are thinking correctly now. Have qualified and highly recommended stock maker who is qualified to properly fit you. He should be able to provide a measurement sheet for future stocks. As I am sure you know not all woods weigh the same. If you feel like you want a heavier rifle, be sure to make the stock maker aware of what you want.

If I shoulder one of my rifles with my eyes closed (not hunting) I expect to have my sights perfectly aligned when I open them. Also my rifle stock comes to my cheek, never my cheek to the stock.

I’ll be buying a limbsaver pad for sure. I’m not sure how to go about adding weight to the rifle.

I have a thread protector for the brake. The noise is ridiculous!!!
I carefully drilled 3 holes in the butt stock after removing the recoil pad. Then I melted some lead solder from the hardware shop into 3 empty cartridge cases and pushed those into the holes. Added about half a pound and moved the balance point back. You can put a mercury recoil reducer but I dont believe they do anything that a simple lead weight does better.

"all you need is love", as everyone knows. But what to do if you want another new rifle?
We all want a new rifle! Always

Just buy and deal with the fall out later!

Going to look into having it restocked. Not looking for a large investment though.

Does it have to be wood? If not, I highly recommend Mcmillan. I believe they can use their Winchester stock pattern for your rifle. Although you might have to send the whole rifle in for fitting. I have two of these stocks and they are really nice. They run around $600.00.

Here's my Winchester 70 416 RM in a McMillan. Brown stock with black spider web. Pillar bedded, with Pachmayr recoil pad. Custom LOP at 14 1/8".

I’d prefer it to be wood but I’ll look at the their website. That’s definitely more in line with what I’d like to spend given how much I’ve already spent.

States that it fits Montana and looks like wood.

Are there any laminate stocks out there that will fit your rifle and give you a better fit? It would still give you the wood look and probably added weight that would benefit you.

I would be interested in it if you pass. Please send me the info on the gun shop if you do not buy it. I have the needed ammo and brass.
