My Sako 270

The synthetic stock has gone very, very sticky.
I’ve tried various cleaners to clear the sticky substance but none works.
Any idea what I could use to fix the issue??
Very stressful I might add.

Try lighter fluid. I had a rubberized flashlight that was in my truck box for several years. It got very sticky. As I use lighter fluid to remove price tags and stickers, I gave it a shot. It wasn’t perfect but helped.
I just mentioned this to my wife and she suggested white vinegar.

Thanks I’ll try to white vinegar

This is very stressful I might add as it’s my favorite rifle

Which model synthetic stock is this? Is it the finnlight with rubberized grips?

Not Finlight but hunter 85 soft rubber (I think) synthetic stock
I have never had this issue before; ever

That’s really disappointing/concerning to hear. Hopefully you find a permanent solution.

If you can’t find a solution, you might contact Hogue stocks. Tell them you have one of their overmolded stocks with that issue. They may have an answer.

My wife had the same problem with a benelli cordoba shotgun. I called benelli and they sent her a new stock and fore end! Might give Sako a call. Couldn’t hurt.

I’ve contacted the Sako representative here in Australia (Beretta)
Will advise what they suggest
Personally I’m not impressed as I have numerous Sako rifles but all but the 270 have walnut stocks

Was it exposed to bug dope? Like Deet or something similar?

Apparently this is a known problem
I believe it’s a warrant issue
And I’ll get it replaced w a walnut stock

I’ll be keeping my Sakos
But
In big calibers I use Winchester because the extraction system
On Sako. What happens is that an empty case in big calibers hit the low mounted scope and dents the case mouth and drops back into the action.
Really handy when something big and dangerous is coming to discuss matters. Yikes!!

My gunsmith is doing that

Back After a Long Time – Hello Again!

Hi everyone,

I’ve been a member since 2015 but haven’t been active since 2017. Life got busy, especially with building my second business. Still, I’ve kept my passion for hunting and followed things from afar. Now that I have more time, I’m excited to reconnect, contribute, and be part of the community again.

All the best,
ANDY

I'd like a bag of 100. I could actually pick it up since I'm in North Irving, but if you prefer, shipping it is fine.
