The day has finally arrived as I am sitting in Atlanta @ Delta lounge.

I wasn’t sure if the trip was going to happen and was thinking I may have to use my travel insurance as a few wrenches were thrown into the mix after a ton of business travel since I returned from Zimbabwe this summer.

Wrench #1: I live in the Florida Panhandle and was fortunate the freight train named Michael didn’t have a big impact to my residence. Wasn’t so sure of the future yesterday morning before the hurricane turned east and destroyed many peoples homes and lives. I questioned if my flights would leave out of Pensacola or DL 200 out of Atlanta but once Michael obliterated the coast it moved quickly northeast and allowed me to begin my adventure.

Wrench #2: While having dinner last night with some great neighbors, I broke off a portion of my tooth. You have got to be kidding me...an early morning visit to the dentist and he was able to patch me up and was able to make my 1:30pm flight!

Looking forward to an encounter with Mr Spots and 14 more days in Zimbabwe this year!

I didn’t mention that my scope bases on the M70 worked loose week before last! Scrubbed the threads with alcohol and applied blue loc-tite, thought about using red! Was able to get back to the range before Michael hit and got it sighted back in. I also noticed my VX-6 with firedot would change intensity after shooting each shot. It changes intensity after dry firing, didn’t do that when it was new...

Packed an old Leupold 2-7x 33 heavy duplex with the friction adjustmentments as a back-up mounted with QD rings and sighted in with my loads, just in case!

I think that’s a good idea. I always carry a spare scope on Leupold QR sighted in. One is a 1-6x and the other a 2-12x. Both illuminated reticles. Haven’t had your issue yet, but who knows.
