Looking for input on designing a package thats not your everyday offer.....What would you like to see??? Trophies? Price point? # Hunting days? Excursions?
The sky is the limit but must be realistic to provide. We can accommodate anything from Elephants to Duikers.
:A Stirring:

One very nice trophy such as a buff, sable, kudu, etc., and make the remainder cull animals of some sort. For those that have been a few times and maybe their trophy room is full or they have decided that it is more about the memories than the trophies this would be perfect.

A good tuskless ele hunt, option for some plainsgame at leisure, good wine with Kudu back strap and a nice single malt while sitting a a blazing fire would suit me fine. I'd love to shoot a proper tusker and would settle for a blended swill in order to do it, but I believe I would quench my desire and fulfill my curiosity with a tuskless hunt.
Ruark said, and I am not quoting directly, a man changes when he beds his first woman, hears his first lion roar and shoots his first elephant. I was quite impressed with the first two, although they were both very quick, I would hope the ele hunt would last longer!
Cheers,
Cody

I'd personally like to take a "unsafari" looking for the things missing from a usual safari.

I'd like to someday hunt:

Grysbok
Dassie
Porcupine
Civet
Genet
Serval
Caracal
Ostrich
Aardwolf
Jackal
Kori Bustard
(Do some normal bird hunting)

Throw in a strange trophy or two:

Oribi
Dik dik
Suni
Tsessebe
Sitatunga
Croc

Perhaps some Tilapia and Tiger fishing too? Some chessa, Cornish jack and bottle nose?

I think those heading on their 4th-8th safari probably have hunted a lot of variety. They either want to hunt very particular things again and again or they are interested in filling in gaps. A "gap" hunt like above would be interesting and probably very affordable on trophy fees for most of it, allowing for higher daily rates as these species take work to find.

All good ideas Gents....keep em coming.
How many days feels about right? We normally try to do 10 for package.

7 to 10 day hunts, your kudu hunting is dreamy on your property

10 days is usually perfect. Costs are more than 50% getting to Africa. Being in Africa is the cheap part!

I'm not sure where you hunt but to get to Zim hunting areas takes 5 days round trip from the USA. If you are in rural Africa you want longer hunts because the journey takes so long for the client, they don't want to leave after just 5 days in country.

(I do 14 day hunts and I'm gone 20 days total, for example)

I find it hard to be away from work that long....

I agree. But the point is that 5 days are travel. I can't imagine a 5 day hunt with 5 days of travel. It would be a jet lag misery. 7-10 day hunts are probably the shortest practical for 80% of the consumers.

Most people are scared of the airplane time, I agree it's rough but so is my job....

I tell people it's a small price to pay for hunting paradise!

With you being both a hunting and photo outfitter, I think there may be demand for a shorter hunting trip than your Beginner's Gold package to go along with your Kruger Tour. That may be a good compromise for a couple in which the spouse has zero interest in hunting (7 days could be too long) but would come to Africa for the photo safari.

Maybe it would look something like:
4 days at Kruger package
4 days hunting with non hunter
Choice of Zebra/Gemsbok/Wildebeest
Choice of Impala/Blesbok/Duiker/Steenbok
Warthog

Could that be done for $7,000?

Or create just the hunting package above and call it "Beginner's Silver package". I see a lot of 3-4 day hunts being offered nowadays.

Curtism 1234, In addition to a non-hunting spouse, your idea could be a good one for hunters to use the photo safari part to see and take pics of the more expensive species that he otherwise would not be able to afford the trophy fees on.

This is something that we could easily put together.........will have to run some numbers and give it some thought.
All great ideas guys........keep them coming.

If that is something you end up considering, I would personally recommend offering at least one animal that has some substance to them.

Most of the 3-4 day hunts I see being offered are normally along the lines of Springbok, Steenbok, and Duiker. Unless that's exactly what I'm looking for, that personally isn't worth my time and money (when you factor in taxidermy and shipping). I'd rather just take pictures and come back to hunt at a later time. If you're talking Zebra/Gemsbok, impala, and warthog, I think most new hunters would like that. Just my opinion.

Best hunting destinations in Africa are still South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Kenya.

Just getting to see a big tusker or a black mane lion in the wild would be a big deal to many of us out here!

I don't have that problem. I got all big five at 3 kilometres from the farm and leopards come to kill game at the farm often.

Hunting in Kenya????? o_O Botswana ????
Maybe some big news that hasn't made to the U.S. and Canada just yet? Makes for a few questions about the person posting!

Sign me up for a 21 days safari im Kenya...

Want to hunt the full game bag allowed there. Primery trophys are: Toyota Lande cruiser 4.5 EFI only, dont expect me to shoot lesser cruisers!
Then any land rover we can find just to put it out of it's misery and of course the toyta mini bus as many as we can get.

Any other of the lesser know game drive vehicles we can spot wil also be considered!
