Best place to hunt Baboon

Mostly your mountainous areas will be better suited to your needs.

These include the Waterberg in Limpopo, the eastern Cape and multiple other ranges.

I have found that one sees allot more as the season progresses as they tend to move out of the deep valleys to forage more.... June onward...

My best

sage advice, never thought about the seasonal aspect. thanks

Some good advice on here already. It takes the right property and right opportunity to get a nice old baboon. They are not stupid.
the stupid ones don't live to get old

Was not hunting Baboon when with Loodt in the Eastern Cape, but did see plenty.

On the way to the skinning shed with the Zebra, this guy made a bad mistake.

I am quite jealous of you @tarbe with those baboons you got. A baboon was big on my list and the last day I wanted to try for one but it was cold and rainy. Loodt told me that there would be no way I would get one because that day because of the weather. He was so sure that he joked that if I could get one he would give me a free buffalo hunt! I told him take him up on that but I think he learned his lesson with the bet he made with @Warbird782.

But wouldn't you know it we saw that morning a troop of baboons taunting me along the highway right outside the lodge on our way into Patterson.

That does not surprise me in the least! They knew your rifle was packed away!

When I have tried to hunt baboon they spot me first and bark at me from 800 yards away. When I am hunting something else and do not want to spook the other species I see baboons close. Unless it is a 60'' kudu I will be sending lead if I get that close again.

Same thing happened to me. Next time I am thinking ghillie suit and a 25x scope so I can go full sniper on them.

When you aren't expecting them they show up. As I was being driven to the airport the troop we had been hunting crossed the road.

I would love to shoot a couple of these guys!

With binoculars, when I'm watching typical baboon primitive and violent behavior toward each other, they always remind me of various criminals I've sent to prison.

Seems like a rifle in the .220 Swift / 60 grain to about .243 / 100 grain spitzers would be excellent for these clever predators.

I have 87 and 105gr VLD for my 243. The 105 run a tad over 3000fps and really buck the wind well. Next trip she is coming with me.

In the Groot Winterhoek range, near Cockscomb peak on the northern side of the Baviaanskloof, there are big males you can hunt easily without a bother

I'll take that under advisement.

I am pretty sure that I have seen that place.

Jake, Sorry to bug you again. I was wondering if you could share a. couple actual pics of this crossbow with me?

Xpedition Archery USED Scrapeline390X Sniper Gray Crossbow XACW1001 - Light Wear - Needs Bolt/Arrow Guide Spring UA5689

If it is in a decent shape, would you be willing to sell it for $100 shipped? IS it missing the retention spring that goes over the bolt?
Thank you Ferenc

Good morning John, I just read your setup procedure for the northstar duplicator ator. I found it very hand and I did learn some things. I have the same machine and I am having a problem i can not figure out and was hoping you could shed some light on the subject.
