Swift A-Frames in 404 Jeffrey

Hay guys
Heading to Tanzania to Hunt Buffalo and was wondering if anyone had a couple boxes of A-Frames in 404 Jeffrey that they are willing to part with, I need to do some load development and didn't know if I would Have my rifle in time, it came in last Friday so very last minute

They are out of stock, all they have in stock is 340gr.

Midway does have the 400gr TSX available though.

Your other options appear to be Hornady or CEB. Out of the available options, the Barnes TSX would be my choice.

I do have some of the Barnes however where we are hunting it’s going to be very thick and possible pass throughs with the Barnes might be a problem especially if we can’t see what’s behind

I do have some of those to try, however the outfitter is wanting me to bring solids and I can only get them in 400gn

You're worried about pass through with the TSX, but you say your outfitter wants you to use solids. Not sure that adds up.

Have you tried shooting the 450gr RNSN with a 400gr solid to see how close they are?

I leave next week for buffalo and taking my 404 Jeffery with 400 grain TSX and 400 grain CEB solids. Same point of impact. Both are readily available and will serve you well.

I have both of those, and I’m also thinking the same thing,
This is the wrong time of year to be looking for hard to find stuff

If you run the 380s to 2400-2500, it will do everything you want and then some. Especially if you’re worried about pass-through, a slightly heavier bullet, in Northfork or similarly designed bullets, doesn’t provide much benefit. I love the versatility of the set up since usually the 404 is the lite rifle and needs to pull double duty for plains game.

I have used Woodleigh 400 RNSO on NT water buff. They worked just fine on 4 bulls and a scrub bull plus a handful of cows. First two where they stood, second two down within 20m. I used only Woodleighs in 300wm in two Namibian trips for 16 head, and an 8x68s in SA. PPSN and RNSN AND AN Eland with a Hydro.. Good luck for your trip, whichever you choose

I would imagine that if you're using solids you're going to be a such a short range that the point of impact will be almost exactly the same regardless of the bullet weight. You might have to tweak your velocity every so slightly to bring it closer.
