I have to agree with you. And I say that begrudgingly because I have always been a vocal critic of our political elite - having spent a lot of time fighting in court against them. But COVID seems to have had a strange side effect on our country in that it seems to run better. There are major issues, no doubt, but there is definitely a change. Healthcare certainly runs much better. I would say we are better than we have been in a couple of decades. I have had several interactions for love ones recently and the care was excellent. We have a small population spread over an enormous area which creates huge challenges. We have had ten years of stupid changes to what was an excellent immigration system that are now fixing. So I am also optimistic. But it is a work in progress, no doubt. Canadians are generally hopeful - we believe in humanity. We don’t see things as a fight for survival but as a challenge to be mastered together. That cultural difference comes through in our literature compared to other cultures. It makes politics more difficult but think we will be just fine.
