... the baseball fan in me that still sees the game like a 9 year old is mesmerized by what Shohei Ohtani is doing. I like John Smoltz as an announcer and it was a treat listening to him describe just now why what Ohtani is doing is impossible.

It’s not a baseball game unless you’re listening to Buck Martinez (I may be biased). Even this life long jays fan can admit the amazing athlete that Ohtani is. I’m hoping tonight is a regulation game because I am wiped!

Never heard of her. :)

I don't follow baseball at all, but my kids and their friends have told me he is on a tear both on the mound and at the plate. Crazy impressive.

They just found a chink in his armor.

Buck Martinez... as a Royals fan I have memories of Buck. (y)

My heart is for the Blue Jays. But my wallet is for the Dodgers. Either way. Ohtani is an amazing athlete.

The Blue Jays are very lucky to have worn him out Monday night. To impact his stamina for last nights pitching.

Yes Ohtani is amazing-but he was also amazing as an Angel.
The difference is the surrounding/supporting cast including Dave Roberts who is my favorite manager in the sport.

Part of that supporting cast came to America and the dodgers more specifically just to play with Ohtani, which adds to his worth.

It will be interesting to see how he pitches tonight! I’m not a true dodgers fan but I do love October baseball.

But I don’t get caught up in the circus surrounding one special player. Even in baseball it takes a whole team.

Also I wonder which team shohei is gambling on tonight. . .

Why were the blue jays throwing pitches right down the middle to him in the first place!

Not sure how worn out one gets as a designated hitter even after eighteen innings.

The Blue Jays have been fun to watch this year. Vladdy wasn't hitting the home runs as anticipated but still getting on base and driving in some runs. It's the rest of the lineup that made the team almost unbeatable. Stellar defense and everyone making contact. Gees, look at Clement. Talk about an unsung hero. The guy gets on base no matter who's pitching to him and he regularly plays every infield position (but rarely 1st base this year). Day to day the bats that come through are anywhere in the lineup. How do you pitch against a team like that? Yeah, go ahead and walk Vladdy and/or Bo ... so the guys down the batting order can knock them in. Toronto's pitching is their weak spot ... and not terribly weak. Except for Brenden Little! Schneider kept that dud on the roster and took Tommy Nance off? Because Little is a lefty. Do what? He's a SHITTY lefty. May as well keep a right handed pitcher who can hit the zone more than 20% of pitches. Little can't even get remotely close to the zone when he misses. He blew the critical game at Seattle and then the 18 inning marathon. Go ahead John, put him in again and Jays will lose again! Schneider will not be getting coach of the year no matter what.

Shohei Ohtani is the Secretariat of baseball. There will never be another player like him.

Excellent analogy. If he does not suffer a serious injury that derails his career he will likely go down as one of the greatest athletes of all time. Not since a very young Babe Ruth has there been someone who was one of the best pitchers and one of the best hitters in Major League Baseball. I would love to see the Jays win but if I were putting down $'s I would bet on the Dodgers.

As a lifelong Braves fan, I detest the Dodgers, I loathe them. Many people forget or don't realize that Dodgers and Giants are the Braves traditional rivals as we were in the West.

That being said, I still have vivid memories of the 92 WS, Jack Morris and friggin Ed Sprague!

At the end of the day, I guess I gave to pull for an American franchise from the NL.
It really, really pains me though!

Growing up in central Kansas, I was a Royals fan from the get-go, thanks to the influence of my grandpa. (Still am!!!!) However, late in his life he became a Braves fan too, via the magic of cable TV and WTBS.

Like you I’m a lifelong Braves fan and was fortunate enough to be drafted by them in ‘86 out of Auburn. I knew and played with a lot of the ‘92 World series team. David Justice was my road roommate while in AAA Richmond in ‘89. Like @Tundra Tiger said I enjoy listening to Smoltzy and he has a wonderful dry sense of humor.
Honestly I can’t bring myself to pull for either team. Just want the games to be competitive and worth watching.

Yesavage is a good story-was playing single-A baseball last April. Got called up (September I think) and is now pitching game 5 of the World Series-and doing a damn fine job of it!

Very cool man!!!

We used to have four season tickets directly behind home plate when the Myrtle Beach Pelicans were a Braves Affiliate. I saw a lot of future MLB Braves play in that park. Two of the best was watching both Tim Hudson... speaking of Auburn and Tom Glavine do rehab starts.
Seeing a Hall of Famer pitch a rehab start in an Advanced A park was pretty cool!

Smoltz really does a great job, one of my all-time favorite Braves. I do miss Skip, Donald, Pete, Joe and Ernie in the booth though!

The Braves and Cubs fan bases are pretty widespread because of TBS and WGN.
I watched them both growing up.

Glavins son went to Auburn, Tom used to show up for a game every now and again.
Way back when I played Myrtle Beach was an affiliate of the Blue Jays.
