While browsing around on the Jeffery page I noticed that the 404 is built with a double square bridge action while the 500 gets a single bridge action.

I'm sure it's mostly intended that an optic wouldn't be mounted on that caliber of rifle but if someone did want a low power type optic would they be just out of luck on a rifle like that or are there means of mounting something on a single bridge rifle like that?

If one were to drill and tap the bridge it would most likely be possible to mount a scope on it using for example Recknagel or EAW swing mount like on the picture below. As you can see the forward scope base is made for a round bridge. All this assuming that the bridge would be the same curvature as a standard Mauser K98/M98.

We can supply Double Square bridge actions for the .500 J rifles but it is possible to use other QD mounts with a single square bridge. It is anticipated that most would use the iron sights though. Alternatively a red dot sight can be fitted. On my own CZ Custom .500 I use a Trijicon dot sight mounted on the rear sight block.

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
