Ok…so my Ruger Hawkeye African 375 is stripped down refinishing the stock…A decent piece of black walnut hidden underneath Ruger’s tinted polyurethane finish.

While the rifle is apart, the laser engraved Ruger and Ruger emblem on the bottom metal has always looked, for lack of a better way of putting it, cheap! I spoke my friend, a master engraver about removing the emblem and putting something else in its place.

For this rifle with the rest of it not being engraved, it needs to be something fairly simple. Maybe just the caliber or something else I had thought maybe a simple shield with crossed spears….

I’m looking for ideas or examples… again keep in mind. The rest of the rifle is not engraved so it needs to be something simple and not out of place.

A couple coats of SB McWilliams….i think it’ll be nice… starting to bring out the colors in the wood.

Thanks….those look like etchings rather than engraving but give some ideas nonetheless the less.
Considering the price on those I'd say that you are correct about the engraving patterns beeing etched rather then engraved. Perhaps it is some sort of laser engraving.

They use a laser engraver.

They will also do any pattern you request. finchers have done custom engravings for me. You just send them the artwork.

I was very happy with my leopard in my 30-06

@DWB post a photo of your bottom metal plate.

I figured there would be more folks itching to show off their beautiful rifles. LOL
The bottom metal and scope rings are the only parts of my incoming custom rifle that I still have not gotten any images of in finished state. Will post if/when they arrive.

In the meantime I have this picture of my "moose"-mauser, it was bought second hand so I guess a previous owner has been inside it causing the timing of the screws to go...

Forget the timing….still a beautiful piece

That sort of work is OK if you do not actually want engraving and are happy with that sort of work. I think it is somewhat cartoonish compared to true engraving which is expensive. That said, that approach would be the most practical for that rifle - particularly a simple design.

Now that is engraving.

Thanks, done by a family friend, William V Wild, H&H trained, who also is an assessor for the Worshipful Company of Gunmakers. If you saw the Holland & Holland on the back cover of the recent ‘Field’, that was his work. I feel very fortunate to have some of his work. It is well above my pay grade. This is the grip cap on that rifle:

Hello,

I saw your post selling left hand rifles. Do you have any additional pics of the .416 Rem mag?

Thank you.
